Tactics for stopping or nailing poachers….

Hunting license revocation is a joke, no hardcore poacher gives a damn about that. Make it hurt- jail time, stiff fines, lose anything associated with the poaching (guns, vehicles). Tar and feather them in the town square. Make their first born transition. Okay maybe that's too far.

And why do you say CRP is not conducive?

    Self Directed IRAs

Great response @Hardwood11 , thank you. 1. How has it been working with your custodian? How did you pick them? Would you do anything different in that regard or any advise on picking a custodian? Local? Big national group? 2. Why is a loan a pain? Let's say for example and round numbers I...

As it stands, this is what we are at risk of losing. I believe green is USFS and yellow is BLM.

Call the number and basically say "I would like to voice my opposition to the public land sale portion of the Big Beautiful Bill added by Senator Mike Lee. I would like to see it removed entirely from the bill" Right now Mike Lee is trying to pare the amount down to make it more palatable...

    Self Directed IRAs

I'd like to hear from some people who have first-hand experience with self directed IRAs focused on farmland. What's your story? Pros and cons? Things you would do again, or wouldn't do again? Things you didn't know that you learned? I've done a bit of research and started discussions with my...

    Latest Wired to Hunt Podcast

It's about 100x the 2 million your buddy said. Our lovely legislature (Repubs in western states in particular...) has now made two attempts to sell of hundreds of millions of public lands (mainly BLM and USFS lands). It was soundly defeated in the house but Mike Lee of Utah put it in the Senate...

Things that make me go Hmmmmm....Land Prices

Sure I get that, that wasn't intended to bash anyone. It certainly keeps the market interesting.

Things that make me go Hmmmmm....Land Prices

Couldn't agree more. I just saw a 40 pop up in Davis county, all timber at an asking price of a good ROI combo farm. But they still seem to move?

    Current Walnut Pricing

I'm a little less than 50/50 on Trump 2.0 right now, but I'd really like some of those facts you reference to back up how you think the Biden admin had the best economy "in the world, ever". I watch most of the economic conditions and indicators across many markets and I'm calling shenanigans on...

Minnesota hunter harvests doe that was aged at 16 1/2

I'll see if I can find pics, I know I took some. "She" actually snapped part of her jaw at one point and it completely healed but left her molars in a mess.

Minnesota hunter harvests doe that was aged at 16 1/2

I shot an antlered doe in southeast Nebraska and sent her teeth in, came back at 15.5. I called the lab and they said they were confident within +/- 1 year and the oldest whitetail doe they'd ever sampled was 20.5 out of the northeast somewhere. Crazy! Add- we ate her, never noticed anything...

    Water Hole Tips

I'm adding a beautiful little 1ac clover field that would be perfect for adding a water hole, any tips and tricks? How big is too big? Has anyone used a pond liner like they have for landscaping instead of rubbermade troughs?

    AMS Help

I've heard people swear by AMS, some don't use it. My question for those who are- what exactly do you use and what does your mixture look like in relation to gly/roundup? My project- I have 5 acres of native grass planting. It's been burned at the end of March and I'm getting ready to hit it...

    Question on Turkey numbers….

I totally hear you and I don't have a silver bullet. SD is just the best example of why bounties don't work like people think they will. What we need is for some dumbass social media influencer to make coonskin hats cool and a commodity. Create market value for furs again.

    Question on Turkey numbers….

Agree on trapping, disagree on bounties. They don't work at scale, look at SD. Their bounty program maxes out at $500k. $10 each means they pay for the first 50k animals and then it's out. 50k isn't a dent in a statewide population. Bounty programs can't tap into PR, federal funding, grants, etc...
