    2018 Farm Bill

The 50% cost share is set by law. But the 40% practice incentive payment is what was cut out for this sign up period. There are not any sign up incentives this period either. They may come back next sign up and if authorized in next farm bill. Farm the best and crp the rest..... if it's what you...

    Wetlands Reserve Program

The person who enrolled it into the program sold all the rights except a few simple rights. You can pull that warrenty easement deed from nrcs website or from deed records. But basically you retain rights for quite recreational use and to pay the taxes. All other rights you must ask nrcs for...

    2018 Farm Bill

Crp is now accepting applications for several continous practices but not all of them. Riparian buffers and filter strips, etc are available from now to September 2018. The rental rates have been adjusted nation wide with many being lowered. Also this sign up period does not have any signing...

    Spraying 2nd year Switchgrass

Dig down thru the thatch and look for green shoots around base. If you don't see green, then your fine. Unless you recently burned it...you should be fine.

    Archery Target Suggestions

Look at the blob targets. They are about $100. They are super tough. Great with Broadheads. I have had mine for 11 years and still no pass thru. The only downside to blobs is the weight. They are heavy and not very pretty but they are awsome.

    No till drill

I would look into the soil and water conservation districts for drills to rent. Typically about 10 bucks per acre. I ended up buying a drill myself as I was in same boat as you. I have a 7 ft great plains 705nt. You can find them used for 6 to 10k. But you will need to rebuild at a price of...

NO TILL vs traditional Tillage, soil video- really good

Rent one....lol Soil health cover crops may not be the perfect fit for food plot guys. Food plots should be only 1 to 5 percent of landscape. So till away if you want. But soil moisture will be reduced with tillage. If you planting a wheat plot for fall only just to kill a deer...then your not...

NO TILL vs traditional Tillage, soil video- really good

No till is a good start....but don't stop there! Look at building soil health thru more natural systems. Imagine instead of having corn stubble crop fields each winter that you have 100's of acres of oats, turnips, clovers, wheat, brassica mixtures. That will create landscape effect of winter...

Any New SAFE signups? Or any other new native grass sign ups?

Just a note to all.... the crp program is very near reaching the national cap on acres. There is a possibility of a shutdown of application acceptance later this summer. So get in while you can. If you have existing crp that expires this October, then you need to go into office and ask about re...

Any New SAFE signups? Or any other new native grass sign ups?

There should be acres available as many states received new increases in acres recently. But not sure how much of a backlog of applications is out there in safe areas. Local office should be able to tell ya. If you don't like their answer...try another office. Farm services agency is known for...

    First yr cp2

Most of your plants are putting down roots during year 1 and yr 2. Then it jumps. But most of your species in cp2 are fire loving species. Burning during dormant season will help grass species increase stem density. So if you want more grass then burn in dormant season. If you want more...
