Just curious for the guys that have created habitat out of bare ground like this....how many years will it take for this ground to be fruitful after the improvements are made? I'm asking because it's something I've considered myself.

I do believe for CRP you have to have a recent 4 year cropping history between the years of 2008-2014. That is for the high paying stuff, there may be another program I am not aware of.

More worried about my increased presence more than anything, not so much the flash.

Do you guys put your cams close to your stands or far away so you don't spook the herd? I want to put my cam near my stand which is near food in a travel corridor but don't want to educate the deer.

I am looking at getting a decoy for next year. Any thoughts on either buck or doe? Also, Is there anything wrong with leaving it in the field hidden somewhere?

I had this exact scenario a few weeks ago. Had 8.5 inches of penetration and arrow stopped and was snapped off. I theorize that I hit behind the shoulder and was stopped by the opposite shoulder bone. Felt 100% about the shot. I waited four hours before tracking and found no blood and no...

So how was the action tonight? This morning was average to slow. Saw a few small bucks chasing.

I took had the exact shot last week. My shot was right behind the shoulder, middle to upper half of body. Arrow went 8.5 inches in and arrow was snapped off. I think i hit the opposite shoulder and stopped. I waited almost 4 hours and myself and 3 others found no trace. It's sickening.

I tried it last year over a camp fire. Had 15+ deer feeding directly downwind at 30-40'yards. One old doe was acting skittish but they never busted and just kept feeding until they moved on. Definite believer.

I have never used a decoy. My only worry would be spooking a doe that has a trailing buck. But I have no experience with them

If anything if would have a touch high. When I hit him I was thinking a 75 yard trail job, Loved the shot. In hindsight it could have been a few inches high. F

Also, if I hit shoulder and still went in 6+ inches would that be fatal

Had a chip shot at a 160+ this morning at 0730. Was at 20 yards and slightly quartering away. Put a rage behind the shoulder and blasted him. He spun ran the way he came. I waited 45 minutes before looking for first blood. I found my arrow broken 6-7 inches down. Waited 4 hours and myself...
