    Movement Update...

I'm with the captain! Ruts on...but you'll never know it from the couch or the bed!!! My mom is 89 and is really old school, and she also got me started trapping. Her motto was..."you can't catch them hanging in the shed."

    midday movement

Birddown, use the hot hands on your feet. There are socks they make to hold them, they also make some with adhesive, and in a pinch, I've even ducktaped them to my socks. They don't work with a tight fit boot, but they work great in a pac boot or my other gum type boots.

    midday movement

Neo, I used to have the same problem, then last year I bought a Cabelas Windshear pullover...I just checked and they have them on sale again. I also got one for my son...he used to always be cold, and he just came in after 5 hrs on stand and said he felt great. I sat out the other night...it...

    Movement Update...

This goes along with the mid day movement post...my son just got out of the tree (he has a late start for school and ended up sitting another hour past that because of so much deer movement. He said almost all of the movement was after 9 this morning. He said it was like everything had settled...

    Movement Update...

If you want an update from some others read "took advantage of the rain tonight"...some good reports on what others are seeing...I sat from 2 till dark:30...we were kind of on the line for the weather here in the SE...it was rainy for a bit, windy for a bit...saw one 130" 10 pt at 3:30. I...

Someone tell me Im not crazy

I don't think you're crazy at all. The only thing crazier would be for someone to shoot him during shotgun or late muzzle season...or worse yet, shot as an anterless deer with the crazy long doe season the state now has in place!!!!

    Movement Update...

Sat back in on a doe bedding area this morning and saw four bucks (two worked the same scrape), and a doe with her fawn. All of the movement was after 8:00 and then wound down around 9:30. The doe acted like she was tired of getting pestered so she beat to the other side of the river. All of...

    Movement Update...

Dead tonight . We only live about 40 min. from each other, and dead as a hammer here tonight also. Went with a friend to a piece he owns, and we didn't see jack...wait take that back had one little chase in the river, but no movement beyond that.

    Movement Update...

Here in SE we had kind of a quick freak storm last night right before dark (wind blowing like crazy and slashing wind)...and then it just stopped. I took a quick drive and ever field had deer in them. Saw a decent ten starting the cruise phase, but then other fields had does with bucks and it...

    Movement Update...

This was one of those nights where even if you didn't see much it was sure nice to be out! Had 3 different senerios I watched all from the same stand... a doe and her two fawns on a cornfield edge 1/2 mile away not a care in the world (like they haven't been bothered); a 130" 10 point come in...

    Movement Update...

Had a 130s 10 push two does and a fawn through about 3:45, then a couple 2 1/2s about 6:00 decided to push each other around...this cold front has them moving around here...but haven't seen any moving across the fields except early and late...

I had the coon thing happen one time...then the dumb thing climbed the tree, but only went about 15' above my seat and decided to stay clung to the tree for the next three hours while I constantly looked up to make sure he stayed there...no drowsies that evening on stand!!!

    Movement Update...

I started a thread like this last year and it seemed like we had a lot of fun with it. It was meant to keep us up to date on what was going on when we couldn't be out and wished we were. I live in SE Iowa and actually had a really good buck hounding a doe last Saturday night, and she wanted no...

    1st season sightings...

There was a lot of talk about the lack of deer numbers during the archery season...I was just wondering how this played out during 1st season gun (what were the numbers like, and what was the quality of your hunt during this first season). FYI our group (5 total) hunted today like we have many...

    Movement update...

Crockett, I would have to agree with you...My son bowhunted this year for the first time, and now sees why I can come home with nothing and still have had a wonderful hunt. He got to see things quiet and up close as only bowhunters can...he also got to experience the thrill of the rut with the...

    Movement update...

Thanks for the updates...keeps me at it for a few more days before the guns start blazing. I did hear two bucks banging heads right before dark tonight...it was very quiet here, so might give that a try tomorrow evening.

    Movement update...

It was almost like someone shut the lights out on the rut...more like flipped the breaker! Tonight was a perfect night in SE Iowa and saw one 120's come and check out a doe and her two fawns, then just slipped back in the woods...besides that it was dead which really had me surprised...thought...
