Thanks for the update cedar creek...the front is finally coming through eastern iowa, so I'm thinking the next few days should be flat smoking!!! I'll be in a tree here shortly, so hopefully we can have more to report!!! I started this post about a week ago, and it's been really great hearing...
I hunted yesterday morning (the 9th...supposed to be one of the best "movement" days of the year), and it was deader than a hammer. I had one little buck move through at 6:30, and two more dinks cruising at 10:00...this is an area where I've seen all kinds of movement. I saw a buck trailing a...
A few years ago I hit a mid 160s high (grrrrr)....saw him two days later within 200 yrds of where I had hit him, and then saw him 200 yards in another direction locked down with a doe. I never did get him, but was amazed that he didn't just leave the area...don't give up!!!
I've seen three really good bucks, and all but one (and that was a week ago) was on a hot doe and had the whole woods lit up with small to medium bucks...
I started this post on Thursday, it is now Saturday afternoon...just to keep our days straight, and has been fun to read...last night was the night it was like the jr high dance (little guys on their feet everywhere). This morning was like a carbon copy of yesterday morning...saw a shooter at...
tonight looked like a middle school dance all jr. high boys running around and not really sure what they were supposed to be doing but they sure were excited (my son saw 10 different little guys)!!! I had a friend hit a big 12 this morning (hit him too high, and he will make it for sure with...
I've got one of those that came in my first time in the stand leading four other does...experience said "she's going to be a pain all year, shoot her"...the other side of me said "i've got too much to do tonight to mess with a doe". BIG mistake!!!
two days of wind and a 15-20 degree drop in temp the last two days (se Iowa)...if tomorrow holds out to be calm and mid 20's like they're calling for...they should be rocking tomorrow morning!!!
I started this post, so thought I should add...this morning, sat in the same stand my son did last night (it is a very safe stand as far as getting busted...its between areas). The wind was perfect this morning, and the only thing I saw is what is normally visible (this morning was as boring as...
Just a quick note if anyone is wondering what is going on...had a mid 160's on his feet and coming in at 5 in the afternoon today. I didn't know it, but my son had come home from school and slipped into a stand at 4...saw lots of action, and a really good buck breed a doe around 5 in the...
River 1...I agree with the statement of "once you enter the game". It's funny how the corelation between needing to recruit more young people to hunt and more limited and costly access to land go hand in hand. I wish all these companies that are making a good buck now would just look to...
I hope you know that this reallllly stinks, but you yourself said that you "leased" the land. That has been my whole point all along compared to "the good ol days" of building relationships with people where the "bottom line" was old farmers and good people. If you can "lease" the land, so can...
Those short G2's would be like a husband looking at his beautiful wife and saying...Gee I wish God would have given you thicker eyelashes!!! ;) Good lookin rascal!!!
This comment is just for fun, not for keeps, so hear it with a smile. In all my years on this planet, I'm still not exactly sure what the president does or accomplishes, but you sure have to look at them a lot while they're president...that's why I'm all for Palin...at least she would be the...
Your post reminds me of something my dad told me once...He said "Son you're willing to charge hell with a water pistol, you have to admire that in a man, but I also notice that sometimes you're out of water before you get to the fire." To even consider crappie fishing this weekend means you...
I know this has been asked a million times, but they keep coming out with new ones, and I haven't bit the bullet yet...just wondering what you would recommend when you combine price, quality, and battery life...thanks a bunch!!!
I was alive and well when Branstad vetoed the bill as well when he was governor, and like I said this is NOOO Culver endorsement, just a statement to say Brandstad drove me nuts with that stuff. Iowa had a lot more hunting momentum at the time...pheasant numbers were high and so were the out of...
Branstad drives me crazy, and I'm NOT even a democrat!!! A bunch of people had worked years ago when he was governor to get a dove bill pass...they got it all the way through then he vetoed it!!! GRRRRR
