Lab breeders? In the market for a pup this spring

I'd recommend a field lab AKA "American" lab. Longer legs, narrower head, typically higher energy or "drive". As with any dog, he/she will only be as good as the training given.

Need help!!! Tracking buck shot with muzzleloader in shoulder

You blew his front leg off from the sound of it. A busted shoulder deer will not lift that leg off the ground because he can't. It will swing. Continue tracking but I doubt you find him.

    Sad outcome.

People need to chill out. Assumptions were drawn by the OP based on the article in the paper. It said the ML discharged while preparing for a hunt with others. A logical guess as to what happened wasn't a ML going off while loading. In fact I've never heard of that happening personally until...

Cross Bows in Iowa....? I hope not

Sligh I feel your pain. Some of this stuff just makes you want to grab and shake people. It's like really??? Makes you wonder what laws would get passed if actual outdoorsman solely made the laws instead of some suit driving a BMW.

Cross Bows in Iowa....? I hope not

Just because deer are driven doesn't mean the shot is taken at a running deer. Deer drive is a very loosely interpreted term. I'm assuming your definition of hunting a deer drive isn't the same as a shotgun hunters. As for the rest of this thread Damn it's not hard to understand. From a...

Cross Bows in Iowa....? I hope not

Here's the million dollar hypothetical question. Would anyone be ok with crossbows as a trade off to eliminate party hunting? Lesser of two evils methodology. Here's a fun tidbit for Indiana. We started allowing crossbows about a year or two ago the entire season. Before that, they were...

How are the shot gunners doing?

Honest to god the majority of problems would go away if Iowa would eliminate party hunting. It ranks up there was dog running deer hunting and high fence whitetail hunting.

BOW GUYS HELP- 80 lbs bows & busting thru shoulders???...

Something else that can affect penetration is arrow spine. A stiffer spined arrow should transfer more energy via less flexing through the shot, during and immediately after impact.

BOW GUYS HELP- 80 lbs bows & busting thru shoulders???...

Crazy timing of this post. I just got back from my hunt in Illinois and had an issue while there. I'm shooting 80lbs 29 inch draw. Axis 300's and rocket sidewinders. I'm shooting 296fps creating around 90lbs of KE I believe. Prior I was shooing 70 lbs and FMJ's shooting 272 fps creating...

Cross Bows in Iowa....? I hope not

Crossbows will have little impact on your deer herd. People need to relax. The opposition to crossbows are the bow hunters who are only concerned with the "me" side of things. There is no other opposition.
