Be Careful Feeding Alfalfa! In the winter deers digestion system is not set up for digesting alfalfa or grasses. Their rumen "Flips" which allows them to digest woody stems buds etc. A deer can litterally starve to death on a full stomach becuase they cannot digest a stomach full of alfalfa hay.
