    looking forward to tonights sit!!!

I would think that they would be forced to move on a day like today. I'd go sit on a food source at like 3 or 3:30 and bundle up!

    Muzzy for Xmas!

I have that scope on my Knight. You'll like it. Go with the low setup. With the right powder bullet and sabot combo that will be a 300 yard gun.

    flash cameras and some help

The flash on the old white flashes and the IR will spook mature deer especially once they shed their velvet...which is obviously the most important time. I'm running mostly all Moultrie black flashes next year, didn't run any cams this year during the season just because of negative past...

    Deer Harvest Update

Doesn't matter what the DNR sees. Politics are in charge of our deer herd now.

Top 5 days for 2013 archery season!

I always have my best sits around the 9th-12th so this is not surprising. Was the same this year for me too even though I didn't wrap my tag around any bone.

    pulling treestands?

Take them down. Nothing worse than trying to pull a stand that has grown 3" into the tree.

What's in your field dressing kit?

    Switchgrass

Man that is awesome. Deer and pheasant magnet. I hope our CRP looks like that in a few years. As part of the program we can't use Atrazine because of some forbs that are included in it, so we just have to mow ours for a few years and then do a burn on the 4th year.

loneranger, what part of SE Iowa are you at? I have some farms that I hunt down around Burlington and the last couple of years have been terrible

    2nd shotgun - any better?

I haven't heard any warzone activity. I sat all day Sat. with my dad on an 80 acre piece, no neighbors hunting or anything 1st or 2nd season. Wind was perfect, 20 acres of warm season grasses, 1 acre turnip & rye plot, thick timber, awesome bedding...didn't see one deer. Fresh snow, didn't...

    Help for dbltree...

Donated... What a tragedy, and such a horrible disease. I've never personally met Paul but we've talked through this website about habitat/food plots and he's totally changed the way I approach managing the farms I hunt for deer. Prayers sent to Paul, Lori, and Jesse.

    Brighton Man Charged

Only 6 thousand bucks for all of that poaching? Fines are too lenient. 20k per deer and let's see if those poachers start rethinking their stuff.

    Been quiet

Yes you can use a bow to take game with a muzzy tag. I know a few guys that strictly bow hunt and that's how they roll each year.

    Shopping

I'm in the market for some new cams as well, particularly the black flash. Anybody have any opinions on the Covert vs. Moultrie M-990i or Primos black flashes?

    No Big ones yesterday?

I imagine a lot of guys are staying home this year because the numbers are so low. Or, maybe more will hunt 2nd season this year so they have 2 weekends to get their deer. Either way, numbers are really low, especially in Southern Iowa. EHD and overharvest of does has really taken its toll...
