    Senate File 338

I can tell you that the 30 other people at the deer classic that bothered to attend the Saturday IDNR deer study comittee panel discussion with Ironwood, BigTypical and myself certainly didn't impress anyone on the panel that is friend of FOI. Had to fight through throngs of Residents trying to...

    IOWA MONSTER UPDATE

After seeing this deer at the Classic, I thought I would pull this old string up to read the original posters explanation of how the hunter was able to display his deer at the Classic? Seems like a little follow up is in order or maybe an apology?

    Deer Hunting "Hermits"

successful hunters are always looking for ways to improve their chances and eliminating the things that negatively impact. Competition negatively impacts trophy whitetail success. Here is how I see the math. Human nature coagulates around success, Coagulation stops the blood flow, Trophy...

    Gas prices affecting your hunting?

Will the high gas price at least cut down on the Night time road poachers? or will they give up their Nat. lite and keep hunting? Just looking for a silver lining.

    Pen raised Deer

If you have 10 or 20 acres to work with plant some green browse and winter plots in the "yard" and you will have all kinds of observing. Neighbors get a little tired of it though.

    How old are you????

Fourty. I still peg up 30 feet like when I was in my youth, but I hug the piss out of the tree when doing it now. Could probably hang a bucket low on the trunk and collect sap. Tough getting "older"

    Last reward

Had a great nontypical come out last night and browse turnips about an half hour before sunset last night. Grunt and snort wheeze got him to 80 yards, but no closer. I was disappointed to see a southwest for the morning. I had to set up several hundred yards east of where I wanted to be set up...

    Man-made waterholes

I dug a small one last year. Plowed out a couple terraces in each direction to gather additional water into the little hole. Its probably 30' by 10' and hasn't went dry yet. Nice last fall during rut when 10 different deer drank from it in one sit.
