    A great summer at Wildwood

Well, the summer camps at Wildwood Hills Ranch came to a close recently, and it was truly a great summer. Many, many kids were sponsored at this 400 acre ranch for a week or more of camping. Most of these kids come from challenging and difficult situations at home, and the majority are...

    Big 'old Buck

Ironwood, they all have overbites . . . that's why they call them 'buck teeth'.

    XWT Products Two nice bucks

That big guy in front reminds me a lot of my son's archery buck. His grossed at 172, and yours seems to carry plenty of mass. I think you should shoot him . . . just so we can measure and be sure.

    Rudd's fine work once again....thanks!

Looks pretty darn good, Matt. So . . . are these gonna be available to common people like me someday ?

    Which Safety Vest?

I and my son both use the Hunter Safety vests, and they work great for us. I think you'll find that a number of people on this site use them as well. Don't get the Pro model - the one that has mesh on the outside. It's a bark snagger, and kinda noisy.

    Opinions on the TC Omega?

I sure do like my Omega. Used it last year for the first time, and 3 of us shot several deer with it, from 20 out to 150 yards. The trigger was a little sticky right before it would go off, so I had a gunsmith work on it. He didn't reduce the pull a lot, but smoothed it out, so it pulls through...

    Early July 10 pointer

Keep watering him . . . maybe he'll grow into a 12 pointer. Neat picture, also.

    and the fight started........

I don't exactly know how I made it to 28 years of marriage with my special lady. I have learned a lot about not going for the joke at all costs. About 19 years ago, we moved into our current house on Janet Circle. My wife's name is Janet. Someone commented about that, and I said 'Yeah, a lot of...

A good night at the grill

I haven't had many chances to use my new grill from father's day, so on Sunday night, I was really glad when my lovely wife asked if we could grill some deer meat (what a woman !). She cut up some deer backstraps, chicken breasts, peppers, mushrooms and onions, and threw them in the fish basket...

    Post your best fawn pic

This is from last summer. I hope I don't meet up with him in the woods . . . he looks kinda mean to me.

    Mission bows

Interesting that you would bring up the subject of the Mission bows. Mathews donated one of these to our youth mentoring program (Bullseye Adventures) at Wildwood Hills Ranch. It is the X4. We got it last week, and went to Happy Apple Archery to get some accessories and get it set up. My young...

    KS Draw UP

I thought I had heard that Kansas was trying to go back to more of their original system which was more friendly to the residents, and cut back on the NR licenses. Was I mis-informed, or did that idea get shot down?

    Tennessee Man Guilty

Dbllung - you bit on it . . . it was sarcasm. Mild humor to diffuse the NR situation.

    Bitzenburger question

Well, I picked up a Bitzenberger jig, a dozen Gold Tip XT shafts, and vanes - ebay has been very good to me lately. I went with the Goat Tuff glue - that stuff is GREAT for gluing fingers together. I built my first arrows, and went with a slight offset The short vanes kept good contact with the...

    Looking forward to summer camp

If any of you want to see the camp sometime, let me know. I could meet you there in the afternoon, and show you around. Maybe stay for the evening meal and program, as well. The place and the people there really get in a person's heart.

    Looking forward to summer camp

Yesterday was a fun day at Wildwood Hills Ranch. Ironwood, Elkhunter, Teeroy, and I went there to train the summer counselors how to run the archery program for the summer campers. From previous posts, you may know that the archery program was initiated last year, and that the IBA made a...

    Sad Shed

Interesting find. I was talking to a co-worker who has been cleaning up his parent's place outside of Parkersburg. They had a century farm, and lost pretty much everything. He said that in the fields, they found a lot of dead critters, including several wild geese, and some deer. Apparently, the...
