    Fred Eichler trail cam footage

And not only that, but think about the taxidermy costs. No standard forms are available, so it would be custom work. And the base would probably be extra.

    Gas & oil prices

Re: New X-Prize The prospects for cheaper gas anytime soon isn't good. A lot of factors are playing into it. We aren't making new refineries, so we import more and more refined oil. We aren't drilling in places where there are large reserves waiting for us - but others are. We aren't pursuing...

Lost my long time buddy today

Hey Shredder, I'm very sorry for the loss of your great friend. But, I'm glad that you had that many years of enjoyment with him. Thanks for sharing with us.

    What's really important

Thanks, Rudd. Posts like this are my favorite, because they honor people who give from their abundance and good fortunes to others - and I'm not referring to money. There are so many great things in life, and it's nice to be reminded from time to time what the more important things are. Great post.

    HSB 764 Discussion

Back40, the IBA, and most people on this site are NOT against allowing NR hunting in Iowa. What they are against is the push for virtually unlimited access by them. Again, look at other states that have opened the floodgates, and ask the local hunters in those states what they think about it. I...

    HSB 764 Discussion

I would be very, very disappointed if we avoided a conflict, because we were afraid it might 'upset' a few. I cannot agree with those who say to let this one go, so it doesn't get worse. If we don't defend what we have, it WILL get worse. And legal precedent is a great ally.

    Dream Lake

Keep tabs on this project, but the latest news is that 10 to 12 Indian burial mounds in the lake area may sink or radically alter the plans. I think the developers have a huge uphill route on this on. . . . darnit.

    Dream Lake

I know several landowners in the affected area, and I believe that there are going to be a large number of the 240 landowners whose land is not for sale. One landowner friend of mine talked with almost 50 of them, and all said they would not sell. Granted, when big $$ get waived in front of...

    Summer dreamin'

Our family is leaving on a Carribean cruise in 6 days. This is Camokid's (Taylor) senior trip. Although he's still a junior, we had to take it sooner to fit my daughter's schedule. I don't think any hunting trip has generated the excitement that I'm getting from the kids for this cruise. Can't...

    I had enough

Flugge, unfortunately, it usually heats up this way every year after the late seasons end. I'm not defending the bickering - I've just been here long enough to see the pattern. I do want to say the the moderators have been doing a great job of shutting down the tasteless and out-of-control...

    $500

Like most hot button issues, this is one where both sides have real definite opinions and wants. And I really doubt that either side is going to sway many or any to their side. However, since it is a topic, it's great to discuss it. And thanks to each of your for keeping the 'temperature' low...

    $500

NR, I appreciate your civil approach to asking this. And I beg any other posters to use the same amount of maturity and courtesy. It can certainly be a hot topic. I notice that you are from Illinois. I'm 'assuming' you would agree that your state is a tough one to hunt and own land in without...

    FB has drawn a line

I'm not a person who gets involved in political matters very often, but I just sent an email to Senator Behn. Judging by the relatively few reads and comments to this thread, I'm concerned that most people will sit back and leave the problem to others . . . like I sometimes tend to do. Please...

    turkey jerky well done

Unless it's 'ultra-dried', you can put it in a ziploc bag with a damp paper towel, and seal it up for awhile. The jerky will pull in some of the moisture, and rehydrate a bit. I've done this a few times with my deer jerky to soften it up a bit. Good luck.

Iowa Deer Classic at the Iowa Events Center!!

Alright, it looks like I need to apologize. I jumped the gun on the seminars a bit, before you added the last two. I like that arrangement better. Thanks !

ALL CANADA SHOW, WHAT A JOKE.

I went last year. Renamed it the Partial Canada show, because only a fraction of the places listed on their website set up at the Des Moines show. Won't go back.

Iowa Deer Classic at the Iowa Events Center!!

I said it before, but if you're pimping your event for free here, then please know that you really need to improve your seminars and speakers. Very generic topics, and many are repeats from several years in a row. Please bring something fresh, and don't let the show slide.
