I definately have seen less deer. Also my worst bow season ever. I think it's more due to all the corn that was up in my area. Atleast that's what I'm hoping. We'll see next weekend when we start shotgun season. Should give a better idea of what's running around.
I haven't even seen one worth shooting in the stand. Even with an itchy trigger finger. But next weekend will be stress management for me and hell for the deer.(hopefully) Either way it'll be a good time.
With the cold weather will deer move into the timbers or will they just bed down in the standing corn?
We got corn up and was wondering if sitting in a timber several hundred yards away would be productive or not.
Re: cultipacker
This might be a stupid question but how do you get it filled out in a timber or wherever. I'd assume most people don't have running water out in the sticks. Fill it with water before then you have to try to unload it. Which I would think it would weigh quit a bit. I guess you...
Re: cultipacker
Just pack it with the atv tires if they are small plots. It works good and you don't have to add something else to the list of crap to take with you.
If you have a paintball gun place around they will probably have anti fog spray. I've also heard liquid dish soap works too. Just spread a really thin coat on.Never tried it though.
I have a cheap pair of Leupolds. Got them on sale at Wal-Mart for $75 regular $100. I usually forget them but when they do get into the feild I haven't had any problems with them.
They are smaller 8x25 I think.
I think modified. I believe that's what the guy at Fin and Feather said that smooth bore slug barrels were. I think full choke you'd end up making it a modified or damaging you're barrel.
This is why I pull about 60lbs. Can't say iv'e never been able to pull it back.
But I did have to cut myself out of the tree to get down about a week ago cause I couldn't unscrew the saftey harness screw from around the tree. Stood there for about 10 minutes finally felt stupid enough and just...
I have a carry lite also. Don't use it much but I had to put screws in the back legs to keep them from falling off so that really limits the mobility. They are like carring a hollow plastic barrel. LOUD I take it out and it stays there if I use it somewhere else it goes out the day before so all...
I was told that if you have to grunt, groan and move to get the bow back it's too much. I think that you should be able to pull your bow back without having to move it up or down to get it back. One fluid movement while your broadhead is pointed at your target. Probably not a good explanation. I...
I'm in eastern iowa also. I haven't really seen any rut activity other than that by younger bucks and I've spent quite a bit of time in a tree the last month and a half. My buddy hasn't been seeing much either. He had 13 does come out of a corn field a week ago with no bucks around that he saw...
Not really hunting it because my county ran out of tags. But me and a few guys planned on a midnight run to wally world to get them. I was very dissapointed when the hundred plus tags sold the final few days.
Anyway that season is a blast. We did it 3 years ago and have been waiting to do it...
