Congrats to both of you on a fun hunt. Neat story - and maybe you can put a leash on him next time to keep him in the blind or stand.

A fun weekend in the woods

I had a busy and fun weekend, as I was finally able to match up schedules with my nephew, Brandon. This was his first season, and first day, as a deer hunter. He had a youth season tag, but we weren’t able to hunt together til the last weekend of ML season. I picked Brandon up from school on...

    Bed & Breakfast

Lanesboro is a great place for a weekend. We go there each fall with a few couples. I'm not usually into these settings, but that's a nice area.

    What a Idiot

    anybody thought of...

Maybe it would work . . maybe not. But, it seems to me that if your stand placement was stategic and high enough, your main culprit would be scent and swirling winds. I don't worry about being seen nearly as much as being winded. Any other thoughts ?

    sight light

I have one on my Copper John sight, but have never used it. Jjohnson, take a black felt tip marker, and go over the lens with the marker. It will diffuse the light so that it's not too bright.

    Casio hunting watches

I looked up the latitude and longitude for my city with Google. I used Chicago for the GMT setting, since they're in the same time zone. My wife needed a stopwatch for her run yesterday, so she took it with her. I told he she owes me $20, since she's getting as much use out of it as I am. Bad...

    Casio hunting watches

Willie, I stopped by Wal-Mart and they were with the other Casio watches at the (ugh) jewelry counter - $37.86 before tax. The counter people probably won't know what you want, but it was at the bottom of the Casio display. Not sure if they have others. I plucked mine right off the display.

    Decoys

Question - why does Carry Lite make their deer look like a football player with the eye black? The decoy looks good, but that black on the face doesn't look like deer I've seen.

    Casio hunting watches

Picked one up while I was in Atlantic today. Cripes, I have to read instructions to make it work. I'm a programmer . . I don't read instructions.

    Spotting scope window mount

I have a Burris 15-45 spotting scope, and I have been using the Nikon windown mount. I really like it because it has a base that fastens to the spotting scope, then it can be fit into the window mount and locked in. This is handy if you want to quick-release it, and move on down the road without...
