    Trapping update

I'm not real sure about the blanket idea. If I would have given this little guy a blanket, I think he might have returned it as confetti. I have a homemade catch pole to grab them with. The key is getting the front paw in with the neck. This keeps those claws away and it also helps so you don't...

    Trapping update

Thanks guys. I really did want to have him mounted, but I decided I was going to wait for one with some better spots on the sides and back. He does have a very good belly, so hopefully he is worth a little money. If I catch a big one that is colored like that smaller one, I will probably have to...

    Trapping update

We had our first East river bobcat season this year in SD. I was lucky enough to get these two, twenty yards apart, on my first check. We are only allowed to tag one, so the smaller one got released. The larger one was a nice Tom.

    The smile says it all!!

I have to say, even with all of the big buck pictures on here, your daughters are my favorite. She just looks so genuinely happy. Congratulations to the both of you!

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

Maybe this isn't the best place for this, but i figured you guys would have as good an idea as anyone. The drought is bringing up a lot of questions that I haven' had to think about before. Today, I had a rancher ask me about drilling WW or rye into one of his warm season pastures. This...

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

Just a hint. If your looking for cheap seed beans, check your local coop right now. They sometimes have some bags left over from test plots that they can't sell, so they give away a couple bags here and there. The retailer I a currently working at has a whole pallet of plot seed still sitting...

Nice work, Kathryn! That looks like a fun way to chase gobblers.

Wife's First with a Bow (Video)

Thanks guys. The camera is a Canon Vixia hf m40. Just a mid-range, consumer type hd camcorder. I haven't got a chance to test it much in low light yet, but it is supposed to have good ratings in that department (as good as a mid-priced camera can be). Definately a big jump from the 7 year...

Wife's First with a Bow (Video)

My wife has taken several birds with a gun, but she has been set on taking one with a bow. Well, it took us three years. But after lots of bad luck, and lots of hard work, she was able to take her first turkey with a bow. It's amazing how much more fullfilling it is when so much time has gone...

Nice job, Thomas! Glad to see you guys had a good trip. We could have done without the wind all weekend though.

    Okoboji/Spencer Area

Thanks for the information guys. I did see that housing near the lake is expensive, but once you get away from there, it seems reasonable. We are definitely going to visit the area soon. Sounds like the deer hunting will definately take some leg work, but it seems like hunting a new area always...

    Okoboji/Spencer Area

I'm in need of a little assistance from you guys, if you don't mind. My wife and I are looking at possibly relocating to Dickinson county. I don't know a lot about the area, other than the tourist aspect of the lake. I just thought you guys might have some good info on the area. Access to...

    What's everyones favorite .22 rifle?

I love the looks of that 62, Shovel. I have always wanted a Winchester 9422. My buddy had one when we were growing up. It was such a solid gun, and the checkering on the stock was amazing.

What are the odds I find him?

They can be very tough animals. Just be very meticulous following the blood trail before you give up and just start grid searching. A speck of blood here and there can really point you in the right direction. Good luck!

Anyone seen bucks seeking or chasing yet?

Had a 1 1/2 year old chasing a doe all around the stand Sunday morning. Several fawns wandering around by themselves also. Is this telling us the rut is going to kick in a little earlier this year? I don't remember this much activity, this early, in years past.

    Got Rye? (seed)

I work for an ag retailer in SD, and we are definatly having trouble getting a hold of rye at a decent price. A lot of areas that were too wet to plant this spring have dried up, and the farmers want something besides weeds in there next spring.

    Broadheads for light draw weights

Like the others, cut on contact heads. My wife killed two deer last year shooting 4-blade Magnus Stingers. She's drawing 43lbs. Others will disagree, but I would reccomend 100 grain heads also.
