    Leaking Muddy Bull windows

Does anyone have a solution to get the windows on these box blinds to seal up better? I’m not sure why they don’t put treated lumber on the floor!

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

I just replanted all of the rye that I drilled in too early (the last week of July). Some of it popped, but then got fried. I knew I was getting the rye in a little early, but live and learn. The high temps and lack of rain at my farm didn't help. I had about 25# of oats still in the drill..They...

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

I had some dozer work done in June to push back a few acres of old pasture with locust trees that were creeping out. The first 1.5 acres that I prepped with a tiller and then drilled with cereal rye with a little left over oats looks ok (planted mid-July), but has some bare spots. The second...

    Surviving a LARGE ABSCESS! Happened…

An abcess is just filled with puss...if is catches it on a fence and rips it open, that would be a good thing. Usually, they will eventually open up and drain on their own. An umbilical hernia is an opening that may be filled with intestine, fat, or both. if that opens up...he's dead. Similar to...

    Oust XP

I used it around 1700 6" Cedars we planted this spring. The trees were planted into Roundup strips in April. Went back in a month ago and hand sprayed a combo of Roundup, 2-4D, and Oust. I would place a 5" plastic tube that came off of my leaf blower around the seedlinig to protect it, and then...

    Switchgrass

Quinclorac with a splash of 2-4D is working well in my new patches of Switch planted early this year, except for this type of grass. Does anyone know what it is and how to kill it?

1st time electric fence build!!! For FOOD PLOT

My beans are almost 4' tall. My light is still blinking green, but I think the fence is probably pretty weak due to all the vegetation touching it....but I'm pleased with how it worked.

    Switchgrass

I was actually thinking about drilling some areas with Rye this late summer, killing it off in the spring, and then drilling switch into it. The dead Rye would at least control erosion on the hills.

    Switchgrass

What rate are you applying at? Nobody seems to have and answer. U of Nebraska says 8oz/acre with Simizine immediately after drilling...but I'm not sure why they apply right after drilling. I usually take a wild ass guess with my 25 gallon sprayer.

    Switchgrass

I drilled some Switch this year and had varying results. The ground was beans last year and I disced and packed it before drilling with my Van Brundt 7 row drill. I had the depth as shallow as I could go and left the furrows open afterwards and let rain cover the seed. 2 of my plantings popped...

1st time electric fence build!!! For FOOD PLOT

University of Arkansas extension has a few good videos online that explain what they recommend. I went with 21" for the outside wire, 4' gap, then 24" and 36" for the inside wires...all hot. My wire heights are actually a little higher then what they recommend. It went hot this weekend around my...

    Switchgrass

Will early bloom of weeds (mainly broadleafs) kill off switch that is just popping up? I want to spray, but heard 2-4D can harm young switch and also prevent germination for 2-3 weeks? I'm working with an area that was drilled bare dirt. It was drilled a month ago. In some spots, I can see early...

Land value chart over time for iowa...

Rich guys like Robert Kiyosaki are buying up large tracts of forests so that they can sell carbon credits to businesses that will need them in the future. I plan on selling the credits to my 96. Good thing I just planted 1700 cedar trees!

    Switchgrass

University of Nebraska has a good video on establishing switch grass for biofuel harvest. They give info on planting and herbicide recommendations. I had CIR seed from Pheasants Forever drilled last June. We didn't do anything to the seed accept open the bag and dump it into the drill. It was...
