May be a little late but would a good dog be an option? It sounds like the the territory is pretty thick but I've seen good dogs go through anything to stay on a trail.

Not personnaly. The only thing that comes to mind is a story I read about a guy that watched a buck all summer and new exactly where he was bedding, supposebly everyday. I guess the deer was bedded down before sunlight every morning so the guy found a double tree and hung two stands at night...
I like the 5ft'er for packing with me in case of a "new" down limb but rely on my 20ft'er for hanging stands. The 10 is useless unless you are only going to by one, and I wouldn't think you could cut everything you would need.

I've done the dog bark, as there is a lot of coyote hunting in my area but I've also carried pebbles in my pocket and thrown a few into the field. Both have worked and both have not worked.

After speaking with Larry this last year and hearing his desire to only pursue mature bucks and not being concerned with antler size, I'm glad to see him sticking by that. To some, the life and story of the buck is WAY more important then some number attached to head gear.

Prepare for some heat it looks like. The deer in south central are moving a little more at night than in the morning and seem to be in the corn a lot. The only spot I've seen a good buck was on a scrape line just after shooting light. JMO, I'm sure others may have different experiences...
