    Killing Weeds???

Are there any other more "cost effective" substitutes for Round-Up? I've got about 3 or 4 acres that I want to spray from an ATV sprayer, and I didn't know what would give me the best results???? Thanks. Steve

    Apple/Pear Trees

Update. Went to check on the trees this weekend. What a difference 3 or 4 weeks can make!

    Ticks

Frontline Plus for your dog. It won't keep the ticks from getting on him, but once they bite him, they get a shot of the medicine and it kills them. Works pretty good (although not the cheapest option). Steve

    Apple/Pear Trees

Trees are starting to come to life! I'm going to try and do my first spray later this week or over the weekend (if it would ever stop raining here). Rain gauge had over 4" of rain in it from just the last week. Looks like there's even a blossom on one of them. (Am I correct that I should pinch...

    Apple/Pear Trees

Spraying. Dbltree.... What is the first "spraying" that I need to do, and when...? As I've read through this thread there seems to be a lot of options. Do I need to spray them now, or wait? Checked out the trees yesterday, buds are just starting to appear and sprout on the trees. Steve

    Apple/Pear Trees

Orchard. Got ours planted about 3 weeks ago. 10 Apple, 2 cherry, 2 apricot. All from Stark's. They're literally "twigs" right now, with barely a bud on them. They came pruned back to the trunk. What kind of growth should I expect to see this season? Will new buds push out from the pruned branches?

    Apple/Pear Trees

What's the difference in cost for a tree like that vs. a tree like the ones that I just bought from Stark's? The trees I received are basically "sticks" and I'm REALLY anxious to see how they do.... but those trees look like they're 2 or more years ahead of the trees that I purchased... Steve

    Milo

Wgf Dbltree, Is the WGF Milo good for doves as well? If so, when would you plant it to have it ready for a Sept 1st opener? July 1? Thanks. Steve

    Clover

... What's the latest that you'd attempt to plant clover for a spring planting? Not sure when I'm going to get my lime down, but it's looking like it may be a while. Just curious as to what would be the latest that you'd plant clover before just deciding to wait until fall? Thanks. I'm in...

    Clover

No cultipacker here yet. I thought about dragging a harrow across it, just to break it up a bit. Then frost seed it. Thanks.

    Clover

Clover question.... Dbltree, Once again thanks for all the info... here's my latest question. I've got a plot that is brand new. It was overgrown pasture (big cedars etc...) that was bulldozed back in January. The ground is now clear of almost everything except for the occasional small root...

    Apple/Pear Trees

Good plan? Dbltree, I just ordered my first trees. After reading this entire thread I'm pretty excited about taking a shot at creating a small "orchard". I just wondered if I've got some of the right varieties (for both pollination and my location). I was originally going to go with...

    Apple/Pear Trees

Best time to plant? Dbltree, When is the best time of year to plant apple trees? We're thinking of starting with a small order of 5 or so trees, but I didn't know what the best time for planting was? Thanks. Steve

    Next steps??? Need advice...

It is some good bedding cover, but I've got to work with the space that I've got!!! I think it'll be a great spot if I can get some food growing in there.

Is it too early to buy seed for frost seeding?

I'm going to frost seed some clover as per Dbltree's thread. Was planning on ordering from Welters's but I didn't know what the "shelf life" of the clover seed is? Is it too early to order the seed now if I'm planning on frost seeding next month sometime? Thanks. Steve
