Keep the meat in a cooler full of ice and keep the water drained. We're from FL and we just keep the meat that way. As for the cape we hauled one back our first trip up and with it being impossible to fit it in a cooler we did our best and kept ice on it. Our taxidermist said we almost ruined it...

..........Quite the opposite, I'm going to spend a little more time in the stand alone. My last 4 seasons or so have been great times sitting with my son but he has...
Thank you for my freedom. I have never served but refuse to take for granted my freedoms. Your sacrifices are truely appreciated. Thank you.
God bless the USA
River Bttm Boy,
Have you ever broken the speed limit? So all speeders should be treated as rapist and murderers? I think your analogy is a little off base. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it unethical. Alot of hunters wouldn't even entertain the thought of hunting over a bait pile...
I agree with 150....if it's legal then it shouldn't be considered unethical. Once the tag is used it can't (shouldn't) be reused. A tagged deer is a tagged deer res. or NR. As long as the laws are followed I would consider it all good.
For the record I only bow hunt when I visit every other...
Used to visit another site quite often but got tired of all the NR bashing. Someone suggested this site. Haven't found any of that NR bashing here. Just lots of helpful info when I post up. Still visit that "other" site but mainly for home state info. Every now and then I drop into the IA...
I don't mind too much on having to wait every other season to get picked but it would be nice if the DNR would allow a doe tag for NR's (even if it had to be purchased).
On my trip up in Nov. my buddy was walking back to the farm and ran into 2 guys shinning flashlights into the fields we were hunting around. He scared the crap out of the driver when he nearly stuck his head in the window and asked could he help them. They were very much aware of two large bucks...
Another thing to look for, that I forgot to mention. Hold the bino's up like you're going to look through them but hold them at arms length away from your face. If the exit pupils (round light coming through the lenses) aren't both centered in the lens then don't purchase that pair, no matter...
If you want a set that will be good in dim light take the first number and divide it into the second number. 8x42 set, 8 into 42 is 5.25 (this is the size of the exit pupil). You want to get as close as 6 or 7 for the exit pupil for the best light gathering ability. The human eye works the best...
