Any scent lok users out there?

GW....couldn't comment on the genetic correlation but as far as environment there is no doubt in my mind that heat, cold, humidity, etc. play an important part with a deers sense of smell. Shredder....I would agree that some deer would react differently to our scent due to previous run ins with...

Body odors and the food we eat

Never thought about that Shredder. I guess there wouldn't be nothin' better than to smell like a big ol' corn cob while on stand!

Any scent lok users out there?

Great question for debate. And it has been debated widely. I reactivate mine in my dryer. When I return to my vehicle I immediately place mine in a plastic bag. Every time I remove it from the bag I notice what I call a nuetral smell to it. You know that "woodsy" smell your clothes get from the...

Any suggestions on a new grunt call??

I like the True Talker also. Had mine for about 4 years now. We don't get too many freezing days here in FL but haven't had any prob's with it in IA or WV. It does have that good clicking/clacking sound to it and great for doe bleats in a pinch (the "Can" is my first choice for those though)...

    You guys have no clue!

Ghost Walker, Down here I hunt deer and hog. We are lucky to have long seasons but cursed with bugs, heat and the lack of season changes. I tell all the guys down here they need to at least hunt the midwest once. I just enjoy this site pop in now and then to get the "skinny". Looks like from...

    You guys have no clue!

I've been hunting deer since I was 7. I don't claim to be a great "taker of trophies" but I'd be willing to bet my right arm I love the sport as much as if not more than anyone else here (I'm sure you can relate). You guys truly have a hunting paradise. I'm trying patiently to wait for Nov. I...

    Buck Sightings

Keep talkin' boys. I'll have to wait till the week of my hunt to check out the activity but all that talk about the cooler weather is getting my feather fletching ruffled! Last two trips up the weather didn't cooperate and it's still hot as H*@& down here!!!

    awwwww yeah!!

Planning to hunt Iowa this year?

Thanks....been waiting for this one. Had to sit it out last year. I always enjoy my trip up. The weather, the people and WOW! the deer. If I knew then what I know now I'd probably be a big Hawkeye fan instead of a GATOR fan. The all around experience up there is always top notch!

    Non Resident Draw?

Having a point doesn't guarantee you a drawn license (especially for archery). Although it should guarantee you to get one before someone without a point applying for the SAME season. It seems that applying for the gun hunt w/out a point though does offer a better opportunity to get picked that...

Planning to hunt Iowa this year?

I've always used the 15th as a point of reference and hunted the week leading up to that day. Two seasons ago it seemed like we were late. The 15th was on a Thurs. and that Sat. evening prior when we we arrived if there was a doe in a field there was a buck with her. Things just tapered downward...

Planning to hunt Iowa this year?

Going to try again with 1 point under my belt. If given a choice what would you recommend as a good date? I have to choose a week between Nov. 2 thru Nov. 22 for zone 4

    N/R Hunters

I figured it was still worth it. Considering we have a free place to stay it only costs me lic., gas & food. I'd love to be able to go every year but I realize they need to try to keep everything in check to keep the hunting good.

    Grunting to stop a deer

I like to be a full draw and on target then mouth grunt to try and stop the deer in an optimum position (i.e. with his nearest leg on a forward step to offer me more clearance of the heart area). Sometimes it works for you and sometimes it works terribly against you. Usually if their moving...

    Whisker Biskit

I use the alum. biscuit for A/C/C's and have been shooting better than ever. You need to try one out b4 buying it and decide for yourself. I don't regret buying one but there are others out there that did/do.
