I have the same problem. Lots of stray dogs on my trail cams. The previous owner actually shot one while it was harassing a deer. Turned out it was the neighbors and he sued him for the loss of his pet. He lost!

Do you leave them in the woods all year long or take them down intermittently? I use mine for security so most of them stay up. Have never had any last over a year on a tree except Reconyx. Some have been on trees for 3 years now without being taken down or turned off. Done buying junk!

There is some awesome public land in Alamakee Co! I have driven from MI, Bow-Hunted 5 days, and tagged out on 3 different occasions on public land in ALamakee Co. If that tells you anything.
