Thanks guys! I am very familiar with the laws in Iowa concearning party hunting. I must say that I am not in favor of the practice nor do I care much for deer drives. In my mind its a sloppy way to hunt and promotes shooting at and wounding running deer. That being said, I will play the NR...
So I bought some land in Zone 6 and although I am mostly a bow hunter I am not willing to wait 4 years to get a tag and enjoy hunting the property for the first time. So that leaves either shotgun or late muzzle loader season. My question is what season would I have the best odds of drawing a...
Mine are all Lone Wolf Elite's and Alpha's. i did just recently buy one muddy hunter hang on but I can already tell I'm not going to like it as much as my LW's. I sure wish they would bring back the LW Elite. I love those things!
Don't just buy someones used junk. Get a good stand like a Summit Viper or you will be very sorry with your purchase. It doesnt pay to buy a cheap climber.
I spent all last week hunting in N/E Kansas and found one there too. Farmers said they were hit hard this year. Our hunt was terrible compared to previous years. Saw very few deer.
Was walking my property in Van-Buren Co. on Sunday and found a dead 120" 8-point in the creek. He was in hard horn and looked like he probably died in early September.
Anyone else in S/E Iowa find any this fall?
I just bought a small piece of hunting land in S/E Iowa and have a few comments. First of all, not all NR land owners are rich! I sold a bunch of stuff and worked a bunch of OT to save up the down payment for my land, and I will likely be making monthly payments on it for the next 20 years. I...
I just finished reading the book “Hunting Trophy Whitetails the Lakosky Way”. It was a very interesting read. Lee took some big risks to live his dream and it has paid off huge for them. The most stunning was when he quit his job as a Chemical Engineer because it was going to interfere with his...
I just read Lakosky's book. Untill last year, his biggest typical was shot in Minnissota. He was a hard core hunter way before moving to Iowa. He did some things most guys would never do, like walk a mile into a marsh at 3 am to get set up on a big buck, then sit there all day long waiting for a...
