    DNR Increase

I am for the increase. I've seen more deer on our farm this spring than ever. We farm over 2k acres and its not that wooded. Plus, I drive I-80 every day to Williamsburg from IC and I've seen a bunch of deer hit this spring. In fact I seen 3 bucks and a doe this morning(not hit). The one buck...

    TreeStand Poll

I have had really good luck putting up my stand the first day I hunt(muzzle & bow). I'll walk into a hot spot put it up and wait for hammer time. I shot both my bucks last year on the first time in the stand. Element of surprise to the bucks territory.

    Finishing Touches on Deer Skull

I boiled a deer head last winter and it worked great to get a majority of the flesh and other stuff off. Does anyone know or recommend a way to finish the cleaning process? Is there a chemical I can soak it in? Please pass along any suggestions! Thanks, Corndude

    food plots

I had a guy suggest to me to plant turnips in food plots. It sure sounded unusual but I was amazed at the results for late fall deer attraction. Turnips are both cold-hardy and drought-tolerant. They can be planted late-even as a second crop. I found that turnips planted in July will provide...

    What have you ate?

There are lots of critters out there to enjoy. We're blessed with variation and different tastes. Some I've had include; Rabbit, Squirrel, Woodchuck, Coon, Elk, Antelope, Caribou and of course Whitetail. I agree with Scout and Old Buck, quick kill and good care is crucial. Nothing worse than...

    food plots

I agree that corn may be the best food plot grain you can provide for all wildlife. A type or corn you may be interested in planting is High Oil Corn. I've noticed on our farm that deer prefer it over conventional corn. I've seen a field of high oil corn and conventional corn split by a...

    Deer Herds/Bucks Brawling

I'd like to know what some of your opinions/facts are on this. Are bucks fighting over does during the rut? Are the herds getting so large that the bucks aren't fighting because there are so many does? I know there have been some nice bucks found locked together but has the brawling for does...

    When to hang stands?

Location, Location, Location.... It's one of the most important (if not the most important) factor in bagging a trophy. In the past I have always set up my stands in August or early September. I've had some goodluck but I could never get the big one. This past year I took a completely different...

Thanks everyone for the congrats. Jason V., those aren't rubs in the background. However, there are some close by that were amazing. I assume it was this guy that was making them and he was making a statment. The trees he was rubbing were huge! It was the first time I had ever hunted that...

    11/19/02 Bow Kill w/ pics

What a hunt! I got this guy shortly after sunset. A curious 6 point passed through and was given another day. A half hour later this mature buck came along. He dropped in his tracks at 15 yards. He's a 12-pointer with a double brow tine. What a thrill! -CornDude
