    My Iowa Hunt

Well Iowa is in the rear-view mirror now... It was a good hunt, though I never did get a shooter buck anywhere near my stand (despite setting up one of the seven stands by a monster rub). Saw plenty of does and small bucks, and filled my doe tag with a nice fat one. She didn't go more than 25...

    I need your help...

I've got a good public land plan. I mean, I know where to go and have some good satellite maps. I'm real new at this, so hopefully I'll hang the stand in the right place. But I'm just thinking, I've got no plan B if that doesn't produce a buck. So I thought maybe I could hook up with a guide...

    I need your help...

After three years of trying, I'm finally heading out to Iowa for the whitetail hunt of a lifetime on Friday... The only problem is, my hunting partner, who's from Iowa is having to cancel for health reasons... So I'm on my own, and I've only been on two deer hunts and killed one deer in my...

anybody shooting ducks this weekend? (add results)

Re: anybody shooting ducks this weekend? We still have 26 days to go out here before the opener. Went instead to a brush-up day to pick up trash and build blinds at our local refuge.

    Whisker biscuit or fall-away?

Lookin' around the internet, there are a lot of love it/hate it discussions that have gone on about the WB. A few people have said that woven shafts are noisy in a biscuit but not other kinds of arrows. About them making noise on cold days, some say yeah, some say no. Couple of people said to...

Discussion for 2008 Non Resident Results

Smack, my partner and I got drawn for zone 5 and we each had two points. We applied as a group. I think that for zones 5 and 9, a little over a hundred people with 2 points did not get drawn. In Iowa, are the group leader's points the only ones that count? If so, maybe there are some 2 or 3 pt...

    Whisker biscuit or fall-away?

I put a lot more arrows through the new WB today... 20-30-40 yds, everything hit well within the vitals. I'll keep it on for at least this season. After that, who knows, maybe a whole new bow...the ones at the range are lookin' awful nice...lightweight, compact, quiet.

    Whisker biscuit or fall-away?

Well I had the shop put the whisker biscuit on. I like that the arrow will stay put. Nannyslayer was right, though, about the accuracy difference. I used to shoot groups at 20 that fit well within a thumb and forefinger circle. The groups spread out to the edge of that circle, about an inch...

    Whisker biscuit or fall-away?

Which do you use? I have a fall-away, but it might be a nice change to look down and have my arrow still in the rest.
