Root rake or flat bottom (rock) grapple?

What do you guys find most useful day to day? Thinking about a rock grapple to move trees and pile up. It "looks" like a flat bottom grapple would allow more material to be moved, but I've never used either. Something like in the pic is what I'm thinking.. Or, is there something else that...

    Future of CRP

It won't matter much this time, as it'll be the first reenrollment, and when it's time to re enroll next time, I'll have forgotten... But I'll make a note of it in my file to ask them to check. Thx!

    Future of CRP

I don't recall everything we planted, but after 15 years some are 10' tall, maybe taller. I remember seeing red bud, and evergreens (volunteer) in there this spring, and in our tree plantings I usually included walnut, oaks, etc.

    Future of CRP

I'm waiting to hear back from my FSA office. They too are short handed. When I called Tuesday they said they just found out about the signup themselves and were having meetings that day to understand the criteria. I emailed them the 3 contracts I wanted to re-enroll. One thing that might be...

    EHD POND WENT BYE-BYE!!!!

So, do you now let it dry out for a couple years then dredge? How do you keep the mud from being a midge breeding ground until it's redone? I have 3 ponds like this. I use 2 for minnow ponds now but they are 5-6' deep.

    Slime in Tractor Tires

Thanks for the report back. I too am looking for the next best tire sealant for my skidsteer. I couldn't figure out if I needed the 1500 or the 2500. The 1500 is a lot cheaper for sure. I also wondered about the shelf life.....

Things that make me go Hmmmmm....Land Prices

The fact that someone else will buy it has no bearing on the way I make my decisions. The same can be true of anything for sale in this world, why would you base your decision based on what someone else would do? Don't let FOMO drive your decision.... I'm not looking to buy land right now. I...

Things that make me go Hmmmmm....Land Prices

I've done the same, BUT, that was when land returned 5% and loan rates about the same. This market is not like then, Returns are 2-2.5% and loans are what 7-8% ?... Makes a big difference.

Things that make me go Hmmmmm....Land Prices

I saw a report yesterday that said 60% of Americans are invested in the stock market. I would have guessed more. I personally have not substantially been in the market since 2008/09... Yep, missed out on a lot of upside for sure.... Thinking about jumping in with some dollars. I know you can't...

    Mulching jobs

Hiring a dozer is almost always cheaper for any quantity of tree clearing imo. They all come with their own set of "after" problems, whether it be chips, mulch, berms of dirt/trees, stumps (if shearing/brush hogging), decks (if pulling), etc. I always lean towards a dozer for cost effectiveness. .02

    Electric Fencing Soybeans

I like using the rope so the deer can see it easier, I also used to twist it to catch more wind so someone told me. They also say to get the deer used to it, put some peanut butter on the rope in a few places so they get an understanding pretty quick. They'll knock it down a few times, but...
