Prescribed Burn - Backpack Blower Recommendations

Kind of in the market for an 800 ce as well. Do any of the dealers sell them at a discount or are the prices fixed at full retail?

A Straight Walled Gun for my Wife

I have owned both 350L and 450B and can not tell any difference in killing power between the two. Definitely had poor blood trails with the Hornady SST type bullets. Been using regular soft points in 180gr 350 and have had much better experience. I do prefer the 350 over the 450. Recoil is...

Thoughts on the cheap tree pullers?

I bought a tree puller a few years ago from Stinger Attachments and it has been a good unit. I would say it is middle priced but nit

    Timber Stand Improvment

Thanks for this insight. You are probably right about overthinking and stressing, I normally do! The large trees, maybe 8" diameter and larger I do tend to girdle and treat. The trees smaller than 8" are what I have dropped, I would say most of them are 5" and smaller. I will probably go...

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

The reports I have been told from the land listing agents is that the rec land market is ticking upwards as of recent and they anticipate 2025 being a stronger market for sellers than 2024. Clearly the price gap between farmland and rec land is shrinking.

    Timber Stand Improvment

Did some TSI work this weekend on a bedding ridge and really made a mess! There was already a fair amount of deadfalls laying around from some fallen ash and elm trees. I cut a TON of ironwood trees and it is now a tangled mess that I am afraid deer will feel trapped and not use. How do you...

    Wow Just Wow....... Land Prices

What are y’all’s current opinion of rec ground prices and forecast? I have a lead on a really nice piece of ground that may be coming up for sale and I am on the fence. The price will be on the upper end of the going rate and it won’t be any undervalued. I don’t mind paying max rate if prices...

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

Getting ready to buy mineral to put out. Last year I used Purina wind and rain and like others in this thread say, it was “so-so”. Have you guys found a good mix that would be available at coops that has been successful?

    Best $30ish trail camera

I have never owned Reconyx and probably never will due to cost. But I have not found any difference in longevity between $30 cameras and $150 cameras. They all last about 3 years and start failing for me.

    Best $30ish trail camera

I have a mixed bag of older non-cullular "cheap" trail cameras that are quickly failing. Looking to buy a bunch of cheap cameras to cover a lot of area without cell cam bills. What do you all recommend for best bang for buck in cheap non-cullular trail cameras based on longevity, battery life...

    Speaking of cold

I have an Ororo heated vest that seems to work well. I bought directly from their website but Scheels sells them as well. I learned that you need to buy a little snug so that the heat is in close contact with your body. I am a big fan or first lite sanctuary set for outer layer. Super warm...

Making farm more attractive during archery season

Thanks again all for the suggestions! Going to do some corn next year to see if it helps. Cannot do alfalfa on this farm because I cannot bale it (dies off if cut but not baked doesn’t it?). Guessing there is truth to leaving for large timber acorns, I have plenty of oaks but not as many as...

Making farm more attractive during archery season

Hard to know how many deer are living/using farm but I use trail cam pics, observations, and sign as indicators. It is extremely rare that I see any deer while visiting or working at the property, in part because the cover is very dense but largely because I stay out of areas deer bed other...

Making farm more attractive during archery season

I would say the population is far below what it could/should be. I would say the 5 square mile area is nearly a 50/50 split between wooded and tillable farmland. My personal opinion is that the population holding capacity in the area could be 2-3 times what it is. I think my farm should hold...

Making farm more attractive during archery season

105ac and yes good water. Spring fed creek that run clear water even in severe drought years. Larger creek cut across corner of it that always has water. I have dug two watering holes as well, they are only 1.5 years old but have always had water since they first filled. One of the water...

Beginning Farmer - No Till Pointers

Planter is 30” rows. Have not been back to the farm to get model number but certain it is a no till. My father checked all that last year as he no tilled into about 45 acres of old pasture to start getting some crop history for future crp.
