Looks like the outfitters are trying to sneak NR party hunting back in this year. Go to the Iowa bowhunters association to get the email list on this. Let's stop it.
Has anyone purchased a new bow at Scheels Des Moines recently and had them set it up? How did they do and are you happy at the detail they used in setting it up correctly? I'm getting a new bow and trying to decide whether to buy from Scheels or not.
What would deer hunters like to see changed for the upcoming deer season? Be realistic.
My realistic hopes are that all in season bait and supplements are banned. Too many hunters skirt the current law now and it gives an unfair advantage to them.
I would also like to see Iowa go to a one buck...
January over grain plots is my favorite time of the whole season to bowhunt..It can be tough getting in and out, and some bucks are broken(or shed this year)......But i love late season. Anyone else?
I have never seen so many flies than I'm seeing this year. My house is a metal building and the flies cover it in the thousands. They get inside the house and die all over the floor..In the garage and outside the building you can hear them, it sounds like bees swarming it's so loud..Anyone else...
I haven't had any measurable rain in the last month (SC Iowa). I have huge cracks in the ground everywhere, grass is dying, and corn is starting to die. You guys getting rain are lucky.
My enlist beans came in sparse due to heavy browsing. I have some broadleafs and grass coming in now. The beans are starting to flower and I wonder if you can spray them with 2, 4-d and/or roundup even though they are flowering? Or is it better just to ride the weeds out at this point?
I had very high hopes for big racks this year with the mild winter and rain but I'm not seeing it. Bucks I expected to gain a lot this year did not. What's everyone else seeing at this point?
What if you have been rolling farms over the years with 1031 exchanges and finally cash out.... Let's say you live off of cash one year and sell your current farm(s) to cash out for good. Is that still a normal capital gains tax based off the sold farms value, or would it be a zero capital gains...
Did anyone get hit by the recent hail and tornadoes? I saw Appanoose and maybe Davis got hit with a tornado yesterday. Madison and Warren had big hail?
I will allow someone with a youth hunter to hunt a farm I have in Decatur Co for a couple days this spring. I'd like it to be someone who has a youth (son, daughter, or family friend) that loves hunting but maybe you don't have a good place to turkey hunt. I do not turkey hunt and this farm is...
I'm thinking about putting some supplemental feed out for the deer this year from now thru August. What feeders do you recommend for this? Feeders that keep the racoons out and secure well to the ground. Are the boss buck feeders designed to keep racoons out, or can they climb up the legs?
I have a lot of soybeans still in a couple of plots and next year I will put corn here. What is the best way to prevent volunteer beans coming up in the corn? Bush hog the beans soon and let them rot on the ground, or just plant the corn on top of the beans and treat the volunteer beans with...
Does anyone have a recommendation for a 100-200 gallon 3pt sprayer to do food plots from 1-10 acres in size? I saw Northern tool had a 200 gallon boom sprayer for $3000. I want one that works reliably but won't break the bank since I won't be using it all the time. Tractor for this will be 63 hp...
I was thinking that buck hunting today is similar to loggers high grading timber. I'd wager a guess and say 95% of hunters don't really care how old a buck is as long as he has a big rack. They say they do, but really don't care when the moment of truth arrives. Most people will shoot a 150 inch...
