Seems late to have poults this young?
They’re definitely turkey tho, I could hear the “kee kee” coming from some other chicks in the forbs.
The oats and young alfalfa is definitely some great brooding habitat as that’s what they were coming out of.
Passed some good young deer.
The two bucks in this first pic put on a show. The one buck snort wheezed at the other buck.
This young 10 has a lot of potential.
My son shot this buck opening evening. The moment just before the shot.
These are some cheap plots to create.
The field was worked about a month ago and left as is. There is a lot of pigweed and purslane coming up. The deer like it as much as the beanfield on the other side of the camera.
Granted the contrast between both field will be different in December, but...
Those fish wore me slick! I can only imagine what a tuna could do. The snapper bite was on and after we limited on snapper, we hit the oil rigs for some amberjack.
Also brought home 100# of wild caught shrimp from a buddy down there.

Have a quart zip loc baggie in the fridge that I won't be needing if anybody wants them. I'd guess about one lb of acorns is in that bag.
First come first serve. :D
Have been letting a buddy of mine trap since right after rifle season. He checks the traps in the mornings and only traps on the property line and field edges. Walks this field every morning and has taken several coons/skunks here too.
Last night, another friend of mine sat up on the hill...
Chances are way better for this buck to see another year now!! Wondered what happened to him since no one had seen him, nor any trail cams pics after September.
I figure he just has a huge home range at this point (guess him to be 3.5). Hopefully that shrinks down next year to mainly my...
All the money put into seed, fertilizer, spraying and for what?? They are browsing the weeds and loving it!!
They should be eating the soybeans instead of the giant ragweed!!! There was a lot of hard work put in trying to grow those beans anyways. Maybe they are trying to help my brother...
Anybody have some of this growing wild on their property? I'm looking for a few seeds to up the genetic diversity of my planting stock. Have yet to see it in Mercer County MO growing wild (some has to be there somewhere in the county) and what was planted at the farm the deer mowed down.
I...
Hows it looking for everyone? Bur and white oaks are lagging this year. Swamp white oaks are going bonkers from every tree I checked.
Luckily for me, my entire 1/2 mile of creek bottom is covered in these and there are several up on the hills too.
Anyone have leads to a southern IA source for poultry litter? I am having troubles finding a place closer than 3 hours to my farm (south of Des Moines about 80 miles).
Thanks
Anyone have a reliable source for a map on deer densities in IA per county?? Interested to see how it compares to the herd density as a whole compared to the state of MO.
Contact Jon Peterson at 660-463-7600 (office) or 660-909-3778 (cell). They will have 4-6 feet tall seedlings for one dollar a piece...pick up only at Concordia, MO here in the next few weeks. These will be bare root seedlings that were kept in a cooler so they will be dormant stock.
Jon will...
