This is my son's first deer. He is 11. He harvested it in Minnesota on the opening day of the firearm season. I am proud of him for staying calm and making a perfect shot. I look forward to many more hunts together.
Congrats son on your first deer. It's definitely a trophy.
2014 was a season of first's. For the first time I had my decoy destroyed. What an experience to see a mature buck display his dominance and then blow up my decoy. The other first, I am tagged out in October with a trophy. It just shows that hard work and determination pays off.
Congrats to him. What a pig! :drink2:
Lucky for him a certain group didn't know about this one or it probably would have been shot illegally and hauled out of State.
I knew that this year was going to be tough but never anticipated anything like this. In July I started hanging cameras (17 of them) just like other years. I checked them the first week of August and while I had a lot of pictures, nothing that would be 140" or greater. I again checked them in...
At what point is it to cold to hunt? I am trying to convince myself to go out this morning however the cold and the loud, crunchy snow is making me think otherwi se. What would you do?

I hate high winds. The deer seem really skittish and I don't like swaying back and forth. I have tried getting in a valley however it wind swirls which spreads scent everywhere. I usually don't hunt.
Thanks for the input. I had a cougar claw and liked the concept however did not care for the seat. The Ol'Man with the mesh seat is absolutely the most comfortable I have ever used. Good Hunting!!!
I would do whatever I could to get to the pinch points and spend the day. Find 2 or 3 different entry and exit routes so you have options. Another option is to work towards that area over time rather than just barge right in. The upside is that during the rut there should be movement all day...
I did not hunt this weekend however observed from my house. On Friday evening I saw a 3 1/2 yr old buck with about 8 does and fawns 1/2 hour before sunset feeding in my alfalfa. They all minded their own business for a while and then the buck started nosing around. He ran all but 1 doe off...
I was wondering if any of you have used or seen the new Ol'Man Drone. I like the concept of being able to adjust the stand while being in the air versus climbing back down to make adjustments. I watched the you-tube video and I noticed that when making the adjustments it made a squeaking noise...
I have had 10-14 camera's out for a while this year. Like many of you I am a trophy hunter and set limitations on what I will and will not harvest. The area that I hunt does not product a lot of big deer however each year I usually have 1 or 2 shooters identified. As of last weekend I do not...
