That thing is really sharp. For a wheelhouse that’s gotta be one of the better looking ones I’ve seen on the inside and out. At first glance most would never even know that it’s used as an ice house.
Bad thing, there’s more guys abusing this than people think. We sit here and complain about non residents and celebrities and whoever else someone deems worthy of “ruining” Iowa’s deer herd. When in reality it’s guys like Mike who are just as much to blame. Guys have become “overnight” deer...
Anybody watch the most recent Midwest Whitetail episode where Mike’s Daughter (under the age of 16) killed her 3rd buck of the season. During the video she also proceeds to tell the audience that she has a “landowner” tag in her pocket too. She kills her 3rd buck and dad pulls it into the corn...
I wish every hunter in Iowa would stop throwing CWD around. Fastest way to ruin your herd is make claims about seeing it or having one affected by it. Just ask those fellas up in Northeast Iowa how that’s worked for their herd in areas where there have been positive tests………
I guess I’m not following……….
There’s left over tags because there was that many people “abusing” the “partying hunting” and so therefor now those same people don’t want to come buy a 500$ doe tag because in reality it was a 500$ neighbor, friend of a friend, Betty sue up the road, Tom from...
The 5-6 year wait in for archery tag. The issue lies the guys who abuse the doe tag loop hole during gun season. Those guys own ground, and then every member of their family will put in to draw, children, wife’s, grandmas, you name it. One draws and the rest buy doe tags. The farmer Joe blow...
I think Iowa tightening up our rules and regulations regarding non resident loop holes is a far better potential to see rec land prices fall, vs EHD. Like others have said, our hunting even at its worse is far better than majority of places in the United States. Historically my area is...
You’re not accounting for EHD. There’s years where counties have seen 50% of their deer killed off. Yet the deer harvests #’s don’t decrease? Meaning more of your mature deer are getting killed. Same thing with turkeys and same thing with waterfowl. Banding data showed record number of...
Follow the money.
The only people saying the numbers are falling are entities that rely on hunters for an income.
Government Agencies
Outdoor magazines
Social media
“Professional hunters”
Etc.etc.etc
These examples depend on X amount of money coming in. At no time is anyone going to...
More and more hunters. Large parcels being split in half, therefor same acres with double the pressure. Less guys on the same page as guys like us (hunting mature animals) social media giving guys atta boys for shooting 110” deer. EHD. High predation, seems to be more disease running around...
I’ve got roughly 5000 acres of rye on the books to get drilled this fall. I’m watching an applicator run as I type this. We’ll be doing this until winter shuts us down or we get it all finished which ever comes first.
It’s getting really bad last couple days. I found 4 on one farm in southern Warren county. Have noticed significantly more buzzards flying around, less deer on camera. Fixing to be a crappy fall if this weather doesn’t change and change fast. I know guys in Dallas county getting slammed too.
I do it for waterfowl hunting. Started it about 10 years ago just to keep tract of trends with movements and weather for my own personal keeping. Wish I would have started it 10 years before that. Cool to look back on and connect dots. I would definitely suggest doing it.
