    New to Iowa

We've been hammered relentlessly with EHD each year but its some beautiful country and a decent amount of public. Maybe not the trophy buck density of say SE IA but it's been a great place to call home. Welcome to IA!

Buck nubs starting - left some cams out…

Ran into three nice bucks while turkey hunting, one I can recognize by his face and torn ear that will be 7.5++ this year. I was happy with the thick nubs but they had nothing like that yet!

    New to Iowa

Now that's a great way to get a feel for the state! If you ever make it to the southwest corner I'd be happy to buy you a beer and show you around the Loess Hills.

FOREST RESERVE DISCUSSION & DEBATE!! (Renamed)

IBA,, ISC, and SKIP keep on winning in Des Moines! You all should be extremely proud of what you've done over the last two sessions especially. I'm just proud to simply be an IBA and ISC member. I would also encourage everyone to know when their representatives are having public forums. My...

Value of Rough Tillable land Conclusion

Sounds like he's got a very fun and rewarding project at a good price. What county, if you don't mind me asking?

FOREST RESERVE DISCUSSION & DEBATE!! (Renamed)

I loathe the "not paying their fair share" argument. Property taxes are the epitome of "you own nothing" government kick in the face

FOREST RESERVE - why repealing the law is devastating!

Adapted and sent. Does anyone know what the upcoming schedule looks like for this bill?

Real estate commission lawsuit - changes coming!!?!?!

Agreed. I foresee the potential of "flat rate" type deals coming in the future. Possibly a sliding scale depending on the size of the property and marketing options that the sellers agent offers. Overall, I see this as a win for buyers and sellers. It gives them the power.

Real estate commission lawsuit - changes coming!!?!?!

I could certainly see 3% becoming the norm. There's enough "small" realtors/brokerages that will be able to survive on 3% for land listings just fine.

    What we shouldn't do

Ken Corbet is the epitome of a slimy politician. Transferrable tags will ruin any semi-quality state. There's a lot of things that might degrade the hunting experience in Iowa, but transferrable tags would tank it overnight and make hunting for the average guy impossible.

    Land prices / insane!!!

Covid will certainly go down as the largest, quickest wealth transfer in modern history.

The other side of the argument

Legitimate question, no tone. What are the benefits to mowing waterways?

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

I figured but some people go overboard at each site. That's about the amount I put out per. Thanks!

Iowa Sportsman's Club Dinner & Sweepstakes

^to be fair...pheasants forever chapters keep 100% control of their funds raised, which is a higher % than DSC chapters... I'm not here to start a pissing match but credit where credit is due. PF bought 350ac in Fremont county along the river and put it into public access a year or two ago...

    Land prices / insane!!!

Wow that's nuts...was the buyer one of the other two tract buyers or another neighbor?

    Land prices / insane!!!

I've had that thought too. In theory it makes sense to me but it would be the exception to the rule at this point in time, and just an educated guess for the future.

    MINERAL TO PUT OUT NOW…

Probably had more to do with location than anything. Question- was that 100# purina mineral + 30# molasses at each, or was that a total split 4 ways?

    Land prices / insane!!!

I guess I assumed (dangerous, I know) they were cash offers for the seller to take instead of going through with the auction but I can't confirm that.

    Neck Injury

Possibly. Could just as likely be from fighting too. I had a nice 3 year old 8pt that had his neck ripped open in mid-November from his jaw down his neck and I'm sure it was another buck. He was down the totem pole by 4-5 spots. He has since healed up and is actually still holding antlers as of...
