I would like to thank everyone who has expressed interest in this Outreach Outdoors project. Every couple of months Outreach Outdoors sends a care package to a soldier that then distibutes the contents to other soldiers interested in the outdoors and hunting. At this time we have three soldiers...

Do you already have the poast herbicide? If so that will kill the grasses and will not hurt your brassicas. Any grass specific herbicides will be safe on brassicas. Have you considered using a generic clethodim such as Arrow for grass control? It is usually lower priced than Poast or Select.

It drives my husband crazy....but that is why he got it this past weekend and I didn't. :grin: Either way it's not good for me...now I have to listen to the fussin'. :rolleyes:

Our 40 gallon Fimco sprayer will use 13 gallons /A. Our 110 gallon Fimco sprayer uses about 20 gallons /A. Each sprayer is different and a steady speed is needed.:)

Yes, we mowed it. This is it's second year. First year we had a bunch of foxtail mixed in the stand and mowed it two times, then mowed it again this spring to break up the heavy thatch layer.

Average temps in Illinois are about 12 degrees on average higher than last year. This has warmed the soil and stirred the NWSG out of their cold season dormancy. Although I have been checking our frostseeded switchgrass stands, I have yet to see any germination as of 4/17. Although switchgrass...

We planted a small plot of it by itself last year. We didn't put an exclusion cage on it and it didn't do real well. So, maybe the deer kept it mowed or it doesn't grow much. This year so far there is very little if any growth so far. It was just one of those little trial plots...no great...

There is also a wildlife mix...or you can just get the grass and add the clover...dbltree has a trial plot from last year. I think there is a southern and northern wildlife mix. Some of the ingredients of the mix you could prolly do without. http://www.sucraseed.com/products_wildlife.php
