Hi everyone, Thefrg10(Matt) and I scored on a double the first night of 4th season. It has been a long and frustrating bow season for me, so when Matt invited me to go to one of his farms with the guns, I jumped at the opportunity. I borrowed my buddies pretty boy decoy and set up along the edge of a huge corn field where we knew a couple longbeards would be sure to see it. About 45 minutes into the hunt we heard a bird gobble behind us. The only problem was a big creek and steep ridge seperating us that we didn't think we would be able to call them across. Matt started in on the birds with some louding clucking and purring which really got them fired up. I started clucking as well to make it sound like multiple birds up in the field. The birds really got fired up then and we could tell they were on their way. Eventually I could see two birds on the ridge behind us heading to the field. The minute the birds saw the pretty boy with their hens, one puffed up and they both came running right in. They initially ran by at 15 yards but caught Matt offguard and they spooked a little bit. Both birds were hung up on the other side of him leaving no shot for me. The birds kept eyeing the pretty boy hard and I knew the shot would come soon enough. The lead bird started swinging wide going towards the pretty boy when they finally cleared Matt. I gave the signal and we counted slowly 1,2,3 Boom, and the rest was history. My bird weighed 23 pounds with a 10.5 inch beard and a 8 inch beard with 1 inch hooks and Matt's bird weighed in at 28 lbs with a little over inch hooks and a 11 inch beard!! Now if it were only that easy with the bow
