2 monsters, same area, same weekend

You just have to love Iowa deer genetics. I recently mounted these 2 bucks that were both shot on the opening weekend of bow season in the same area.

The buck on the left was 3 years old and scored 184" By far the smallest body, ears, face, nose I have ever worked with. I bet the hunter thought this guy was 250" when he saw him on the hoof. Can you imgaine if he made it to 5-6 years old?

The buck on the right was 5 years old and scored in the 170s. Huge body and neck for a pre-rut deer. Big old head and Roman nose. I think when they come pick up their deer I will waive the price if they give me permission to hunt this spot:D

I know the hunter's that shot these deer, very hard working, dedicated guys that put in a lot of work with their stick and string. The mounts look great! Much better pics than the cell phone pics I got when these were taken.

Thanks guys, I just can't get over the body size difference, and maybe it was just in the 184's genes that he would always have a small body. Most 3 year olds go on a 21-23 inch form and it was all I could do to get this to fit a 19.5 inch form. Those early season short hair capes sure are nice.

Whoa. Dude, I love those mounts. Can't wait to get mine back. I don't know what form to have you mount him on? Guess I will leave it up to you.....I don't think there is anyway I will be disappointed. Keep up the great work.

Sometimes I think it is the way to go. "Leave it up to you." These artists do great work and this buck looks totally awesome IMO.
