2 more old timers

Here are 2 other old timer bucks on my farm that have earned a lifetime pass. The first one showed up late dec. 2008 with his front leg flopping around blown out from a shotgun slug no doubt. He was a pretty good buck then with alot of stickers. After that in 2009 and 2010 he kept the mass but lost his width and beam length. The leg is stiff and he does not use it at all. When he puts his head down to eat his hoof points up in the sky.Other than that he is healthy and in good condition. Anyone that sees him says he should be put out of his misery. I have to disagree he seems just fine to me.

This old buck we have also always had on the dont shoot list only because of his personality and the fact that he must be the dumbest buck in Iowa. His best rack was also in 2008 and going downhill every year since, but he has never been injured. It seems no matter where we set up on the farm he shows up. He will wander all day long showing up in every field without a care in the world. We have had him walk downwind of our blind, turn and walk up, look in then go back to feeding or whatever he was doing. We probably had him under 30 yards 8 out of every 10 times we were out over the last 2 years. We would never shoot him, he's just fun to have around to keep us company.

I will update some current velvet pictures on this thread as soon as I get some good ones.

Sorry I did'nt stack the pictures right, so its too big and hard to read. If someone can fix that thanks.

Awesome bucks! I can't wait to try out the mock rubs! 6x6 when do you put them in the cornfield? Maby a month before velvet shedding?

Thats awesome, the one with blown out leg is really unique, I bet he doesn't travel too far. 6X6, your going to have to refresh that thread you had about the mock scrape later this year, I will really want to try that out!

I have seen that gimpy legged buck where I hunt. I have wondered how the coyotes haven't taken him down.
