I am pretty sure that if you are a college student in iowa you are considered a resident if you are here at least 30 days. So a nonresident is not needed. And if so good luck on that. Usually a 3 yr wait on a coveted any sex bow tag for nonresidents from my buddy from alabama was told when he applied.

So let me get this straight, if a non resident comes to Iowa to attend college, full time, they can qualify for a resident tag?

Yep you got that right Bonker. That is one plus about paying 15,000 dollars a year to go to school out of state, I have been enjoying it for awhile now.
Plus I'm so far out of the school scene, I would go nuts if I had to go again. The thought of someone telling me I had to do homework when I could be out hunting just doesn't appeal to me. ha, ha
Back to the original post. you can apply for non tags from the first sat in may until the first sun in june. Or you can purchase just a pref pt for the future. 1-800-367-1188 you can view your odds of getting a tag on the dnr website keeping in mind that 2500 hunters purchased pref pts last year and that will not show up on the zone to zone numbers.
