It's been a little over a year since I took Joe Meders class. 11 mounts later I decided to enter 3 in the ITA amateur division to see how they stacked up. I had a great time at the show and met some good people including Stuffy the ITA president and Iowawhitetail member. (Sorry, no turkey for you to mount Durk, I get Tom fever something terrible)

Got some excellent critiques from the judge and Joe. I ended up getting blue ribbons for all 3 mounts. I'm excited to enter a piece in the professional division next year. Maybe I'll even get around to mounting the buck I shot this fall when I finish 4 more for friends and family.

This mount also won me Research Manikins Best Amateur of the show award.

If you are on the fence about taking Joe Meder's class and learning taxidermy let me say it is worth it! Not easy, but worth it.

Looks like you have gotten off to a great start. Congratulations on the accomplishments so far. I have thought many times about taking that activity on but am most likely going to wait a few more years when I am not able to actively hunt as much. Always thought it would be a great way to stay involved in hunting once my body starts to tell me to slow down. Hopefully I have 10+ years left but am looking forward to taking a stab at it eventually.

Beautiful! It appears that you're off to a great start. Its evident that you have a bright future
