Hopefully some of you got the chance to go to the show in Marshalltown last weekend. Once again there was some amazing work and creativity. Thanks to Durk Sterner and the ITA for all the hard work they do.

I moved up to the professional division this year hoping my work would stand up to tougher judging. Only 3 blue ribbons were awarded in pro deerhead and I got one of them. It was a bow kill of mine which made it even sweeter.

Now here were my favorite mounts at the show, these people have serious talent.

My buddy Justin Jones did this Iranian Ibex. Some of you may know him, he works at Joe Meder's place. He cleaned up on awards for this one.

These woodies were absolutely amazing

This trail cam mount was awesome. Many hours went into this piece.

The mouse on the rusty nail made this a show favorite.

If you have never been to a show, try to make it next year. These people are true artists.

Congrats on your mount. The rest of the mounts are awesome as well. I can see where the fox and mouse got the show favorite.

Congrats on the mount and I heard about that Ibex as it was being done, was told it was a sure thing for a handful of ribbons... guess it pulled through!

Congrats on the ribbon. Looks fantastic! Who did the woodies? Was it Mark Baker by chance??

Show…
Thanks for all the comments guys. Eastern Iowa is flooded with taxidermists and I'm working on finding my spot among all of them. The plan is go go full time in 5 years. Just need to get better and build a client base.

Not sure who did the woodies.

The wood on the pedestal is burnt pine. Really cool looking stuff. If a guy had the right tools to make those pedestals he would make a bunch of money. Lot's of people wanting them for a different look in their trophy room.

Congrats-great buck and mount. Justins a good guy and heck of a taxi so great to see him up there also. Well done boys!

Wow well done on the deer mount. Congrats to you I absolutely love it. Best wishes on your dream as well. With that kind of work you can do it.

Just saw this thread. I am a taxidermy nut, and you my friend, are doing one hell of a job!
