Finished up my 1st season yesterday pretty much, joined a few of my friends for a quick push after a morning sit and had another chance at my target buck but with a broken off left side I let him go. Still have my landowner doe.
I put up a new stand on the 2nd and guys on Facebook said a mature deer or any deer for that matter wouldn't go by with me scent. I had to call BS because it's shotgun season, anything can happen. First light around 7:15 I had two does come through and passed both of them soon after I had a little doe come through and heard something behind it and it was a little spike running 200mph (or so it seemed). After that I had a nice doe come through and I shot her quartering away and my gun shot to the left and hit her in the butt (ruined her right ham) 40 yard shot and she dropped. About 5mins after I heard a few shots from my buddy and gave him a call really quick he said he saw a decent 8pt and then I hung up and 15mins later the 8pt came through and I shot him at 120 yards and then again at 150 and again at 200. All the shots were a little to the right and should have stopped after the first shot because I one lunged him then double lunged and then liver shot him. I waited about an hour before getting down and had the big 10pt come out under my stand at 50 yards. I shot him and he ran to the top of the hill and dropped. I waited about 15mins and got down and a bigger 8pt that I have trail camera pictures of came through but I just filled my any-sex and my friends. We were both happy and he let me keep the meat. We cut the big buck up this morning.
