Well I decided for a change of scenery and headed to IL last week to hunt with my brother and nephew. Overall it was an action packed 6 days with so many great up and comers running around the farm
Weds morning I had an action packed hunt with bucks really cruising and early that morning had a shooter skate me
At 40yds. I wasn’t 100% sure what he was
Just saw a lot of mass a d a kicker off his g2, but it was the first deer that made me reach for the bow.
Thursday morning was going to be my last hunt and I woke to some howling winds. I knew one spot that I could get out of the wind completely and it was blowing from the right direction. I hunted this same
Spot during a blizzard 5 years back and was able to sit all day and crack a great buck due to it being out of the wind
Jumped in the stand and immediate action with several bucks working a near by bedding area. About 10:30 I heard some thrashing close to me and turned my head to see the buck who had skated me the prior morning at 40yds making a scrape and tearing up a honeysuckle bush. I grabbed the bow and when he stepped into my 25yd lane I deflated him.
He ran about 40yds and tipped over. Man I was pumped. Ended up a mainframe 9 with some junk. Left brow is 9 3/4” to give some perspective””
