23 pound jake

First year hunting, first bird, last day of 3rd season, 23 pound jake. YES IT WAS A JAKE. It was wet from the rain, but I weighed it 2 hours later at 23 pounds. I've been reading stories of toms with 10 inch beards tipping the scale at 23 pounds, but never a jake. Is this unusual? Should I have taken it somewhere to get it officially weighed?
