I dont know about you guys but I am getting pretty pumped. Deer season is only 4 months away. I have been shooting every night and have already lined up permission on a couple farms already. I haven't been this ready in a long time!

Counting down the days....

I know what you mean! Turkey hunted for a couple of months, heading up to Canada tomorrow to whack a bear, all just distractions to get through till September!

Another good diversion until October...try those Missouri River walleyes

I cant wait either!! cant wait to get the trail cameras out in the first part of july and hopefully get some pics of some decent buck. Then Im heading to Wyoming in Sept to hope get a bull elk with my bow. It getting close, right around the corner.

I will be heading to Iowa in two weeks can't wait to see some bachelor groups on our farms and hopefully get some good footage. Have any of you been seeing groups out and about. I know i'll be a little early to see any great antler development.

I hear ya!

I will be trying out a handgun this season (if I can shoot it well enough!) Go to the range 2 times a week to try to get a respectable group at 50 yards. Right now I would only take a shot out to 25 yards, since my groups at that range are under 6 inches (closer to 4.) My goal with the case of ammo I have sitting in by safe is to get to under a 6" group at 50 yards, since most of the deer seem to be under that.

To make the wait worse I just found out that my father-in-law (aka hunting buddy) found us a place to hunt much closer to home! He is from the Spencer area, and moved to Ames (where I am) last year. We ended up driving back to Spencer last year, and that can end up being a long haul when you end up deerless. Now he knows a farmer near Polk City that has some un-hunted riverbed land!

Been planting trees, shooting, running, biking, cutting trails, basketball, golf, anything I can to pass the time to get to October... alright, alright September. Usually go up to the cabin on Leech for eye opening but didn't think missing the first mothers day was a smart move... ;0)>

Seeing some new members on here WELCOME! It is nice to get some different opinions and share ideas with people with the same disease.

Ogz, Go Hawks...

I be ready when october comes around. This year I am going to try a release, so I'll be doing alot of practice until october.

I hear you guys. You have to do just about all you can to stay away from your hunting areas right now..just let them live peacefully and grow those magnificent antlers. I did see two backelor bucks last week feeding in a field where three dandies hung out last year. I'm relatively confident these two are the 8 pt. and 10 pt. I have camtrakker photos of last year.

I'll put my Camtrakker up sometime in mid-July when you can get a better idea on the points and spread of our "inventory." It will be about then that I'll take my bow in for its tune-up, refletch my arrows and start shooting, as well as lifting to get my "holding" muscles into shape. Until then, I'll keep busy on other things. Its the one time of year I try not to think about hunting.

Hey Limbchicken
Buy the looks of your home page it seems as though you must not work much. Great photos thanks for sharing.

WHTFANTASIES,
Thank you. Some would agree with you... ;0)> I am just lucky to have a job that allows me to take off during the spring and fall along with an understanding wife. I think that may go back to the college days when I scheduled all my classes on Tuesday and Thursday so I could uhh....study the other five.
