41 Point Oklahoma Buck

I got these pictures and story in an e-mail..

A 9 year old in Oklahoma bagged a 41 point buck!!!!

IF YOU WILL NOTICE IN THE PICTURES, THERE IS ELECTRIC FENCING WIRE ALL IN HIS HORNS. THAT WIRE HAD MYSTERIOUSLY WENT MISSING FROM his PAPA'S BLACK-EYED PEA PATCH. Supposedly, Cabala's has offered $150,000 for the deer.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but I believe the Albia buck (current world record non-typical harvested a few years ago) did not even bring $150K from Bass Pro. Why would Cabela's offer that kind of coin when they can get a replica bought for probably less than $5,000 and no one in their retail locations could ever tell the difference.

Every time someone shoots a big buck there is the rumor that Cabela's offerd them a lot of money for it. Never true. I laugh every time I see it. Cabela's buys a lot of mounts to decorate their stores but never pays anywhere near that much for them.

Cabela's has all but quit buying antlers. They havnt purchased a real set of antler for about 6 months and word from thier top buyer is they are done. They have a very large storage facility that is full of antlers and mounts. They arent building stores fast enough to empty storage and use what they already purchased. I also know for fact that for the last three years they have purchased over $30K in replica's each year from Artistic Antlers. It'll be awhile before Cabela's gets back into the antler buying game.

The tags on stories like this raise RED FLAGS immediately.

Everyone I've received this year has been about an offer of 50-150K and says that North American Whitetail is doing an article on it.

I've even had pictures from the PMA get emailed to me with these types of stories. I think I've done a good job at ripping an new hole in the people that sent them (the pma pictures). Hopefully they have taken me off their email lists or use some logic before they hit SEND.
