A Brave New Course...

The hardest part about QDM is trying to get all the land owners around you to agree. Most don't care in fact if you ask permission they will tell you take as many as you can. I would like to try but if the state forced a point restriction it would help. Anyway a few years back South Dakota put a program like this in place for the Black Hills. I haven't been back since they started, I wonder how it is working anybody know?

This is, has been a really hot topic here in PA. Some that I surely thought would support the issue have been against. It would be something like, no more party hunting, or large group drives issue would be in Iowa.

I am glad, something is being given a chance to see PA bucks get a little age, we have good deer in PA, but without age they dont get big anywhere.

I guess that is why I drive 832 miles, sometimes just to scout.

The best thing Iowa has done, and I hope continues to do, is have the gun season after the rut. Small bucks are still killed with point restrictions. Not too many people I know would shoot a fork horn!

I would welcome that type of change in Iowa! We, for the most part, have convinced all the bow hunters, that hunt the same private property, to shoot only older bucks or does, but when the shotgun season arrives, it's a different story. I believe it would be hard to convince the farm owners of the sense this would make. The farmer that owns the property I hunt on, always tells me to shoot everything I see, and take the one I want. This rule would be hard to enforce without check stations, which IMHO, isn't a bad idea either.
