I got my new Hoyt ViperTec a few weeks ago. Bear with me, this isn't a Mathews bashing post. Anyway, the guys in my archery club decided to have our Feb. meeting at the local pro shop. We would shoot the new computer techno-range, have some deer sausage and a few cold ones, and generally have fun. Most of us shoot Hoyt, But we have one member who has been shooting the same Mathews for about four years. Now, he can shoot the seeds out of a slice of watermelon at 40 yds. with that thing, but for some reason, alot of his shots wouldn't register on the computer. The shop owner said that only happens when some kid isn't shooting a high enough poundage, but that Mathews was set at 62 lbs. so that wasn't the problem. The pro is a real mechanic and can fix anything, so he takes all this guy's gear back in the shop to see what's wrong. We continue to shoot and kill some 12 ozers as well. Fifteen minutes later the pro comes back out and says he knows what's wrong. It seems that after repeated shootings with that Mathews, the arrows had lost all their stiffness. Well, now things made sense. You see, the last two years this guy had'nt gotten a deer. He shot at a nice buck last Nov. and hit it perfectly, but the arrow only went in about an inch. While we're standing around trying to figure out what made his arrows do that, his wife was listening intently. Finally she gets up, walks out in the showroom, returns with a new Hoyt V-Tech and sets it in her husbands lap. She quietly said, "We've tried everthing else, honey; this new Hoyt will probably do the trick."
