I too live in Alaska. Every year there is an event in February called the Fur Rondevous held in Anchorage. There is always a fur and antler auction that has raw and tanned furs for sale as well as lots of moose and caribou antlers that have been confiscated by fish and game. The furs are bought from trappers I believe. I'm not sure what the raw furs sell for (including bear hides) but the tanned furs are pretty reasonable. There is about every kind of fox on the planet, lots of wolves, coyotes, wolverines..etc. The fox are pretty reasonable..60-100 bucks for average, but the wolverines and wolves start the bidding around 3-400 and end around 600. It just all depends on the quality of the hide.
The antlers are never very reasonable for the average guy to buy because of all the horn carvers up here. They buy antlers and tripple the price on them once they work their magic with their carving skills and they deserve every dime they make from them. Some of the carvings are unbelievable. Anyway, it's illegel to sell moose or caribou racks with the skull intact, so all antlers are sold split. Most nice moose racks are at least 3-400 bucks, with larger racks going for 600 and up. There is a huge market for antlers up here.
I found 14 moose sheds last spring...5 of them were from at least 60 inch bulls, and the rest were just average. I had a carver offer me 2 grand for all of them, but I couldn't part with them. You could make a lot of money up here if you were a die hard moose shed hunter!!
