I decided to take another scouting trip early this morning since the forecast called for calm skies and I figured that the gobblers would really be fired up due to the weather over the last 3 days. I wasn't disappointed as I got to where I wanted to sit and scout and immediately had birds sounding off several hundred yards out. As the sun started to rise gobblers continued sounding off from all directions and the area I have been hoping to hunt opening morning quickly had 8 toms on the ground doing there show. I was setup about 300 yds from where they were spending most of their time, and due to a slight knoll in the ridge I seldom could lay eyes on them, however I knew they were there as they gobbled from 5:50 until 8:00 with rarely more than 30 seconds between gobbles.
I decided to check on another spot which I had scouted Tuesday morning and actually got a few pictures of some birds that were about 400 yds out in a pasture. Now I am up in the air on what spot to hunt but I guess it isn't a bad problem to have. Really, got the blood pumping hearing all the birds this morning, Monday can't get here soon enough.
