A Sad Day for America

I've spent much of the evening and into the early morning hours watching news programs about the death of Ronald Reagan.

In my opinion he was one of the great Presidents in our history. I am sad that he is gone but, I am greatful that he is no longer suffering. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

When I picture him in my mind I will always see him with a warm smile that was so often on his face. He led our country with strength and dignity and brought a sense of patriotism back to America.

He is gone, but not forgotten.

~Quotes From Reagan's Presidency~

· Communism: "I believe that communism is another sad, bizarre chapter in human history whose last pages even now are being written."

· Government: "Government is not the solution, it's the problem."

· On Challenger Crew: "We will never forget them ... as they prepared for the journey and waved goodbye and slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God."

· Joking While Testing Microphone: "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes."

· After He Was Shot: "Honey, I forgot to duck."

Yes indeed, Reagen ranks with the best, and really did alot for the nation. Thoughts and prayers are out to his family.

Like Rack, I spent a lot of time last evening in front of the tv remembering what I could of his presidency and his role as humanitarian. Truely a sad loss for the nation but one that was overdue in ending the suffering he and his family felt.

just saw on the news as i was reading this, the speech he gave when he told gorbichov or whatever to tear down the wall, gave me cold chills. thoughts and prayers are with the family!
