Well I have a story for you. I tagged out this morning at 6:32 A.M. And not only that but he’s got three beards. Here is the story. I got out there early this morning and set up in a different spot than normal. I got set up looked at my watch and it said 4:57 A.M. I spent the next half an hour just soaking it in. At 5:27 I heard the first gobble. Then there were gobbles all over the place until about 6:10. Then I heard three toms gobble out in front of me about 100 yards down in the bottom. A few minutes later I seen one of them come into a clearing and was strutting around. I never seen the hen but I know she had to be close. I kept calling to him and he would gobble at me every once in a while but never could get him to commit to me. At about 6:25 I let him have with the call. I started cutting real hard on my call and all of the sudden behind me about 30 yards I heard two toms gobble. It about scared the crap out of me. I turned around and got the gun up. Then the thunder rolled and both of them gobbled again only this time closer. I still couldn’t see them because they were still over the rise of the hill. I reached down and clucked once on my call and they both gobbled again. And then I seen two heads stick up over the hill and then it thundered again and they gobbled. The both walked about 10 steps forward and seen the decoy and went into strut spittin & drummin. I had the bead on the lead bird but they were both behind some bushes about 25 yards out. I finally seen there beards and they both looked like the same size. It thundered again and they both gobbled again and walked directly toward me. As soon as the lead bird came out from behind the bush I hammered him. 17 steps away. I ran up to him and looked down at my watch it was 6:32. It was an absolutely awesome hunt. And an awesome bird. He weighed 19 ½ lbs., has ¾†spurs and three beards. One beard was 9 ½†long, one beard 4 ½†long and the last beard 1 ¼†long. I’m still pumped up. Enjoy the pics. Good luck and see ya!
