A year + in review

Didn't get to post much this year, thought I would introduce myself and tell a story. I'm originally from WV, spent 8 yrs in the USMC(stationed SoCali mostly) met a guy became friends, became an Iowa resident. Happily married with a near terrible two's little girl and a wonderful i.e. lets me hunt, wife. I currently clean up clandestine drug labs after the law enforcement finds em.

Now the good stuff, huntin. Started off late summer honing my bowskills which wasn't even practiced for 8yrs. Split the limb on the ole Carroll(pre PSE) picked up a Golden Eagle predator at a hock shop and went from there. Opening day missed a nice doe, go figure, lol. Next day I tagged one and hmmmseen the arrow sticking out behind the front shoulder as it went running, but no blood, geesh. Very next day same location, from the ground, finally meat on the table not huge but not a small doe either. Helped a friend track a few deer, to no avail, 3 lost deer for him altogether. Most of them I watched, good shots, waited atleast 2 hrs before trailing, but the blood still ran out and no deer.

Mid archery season, find a promising area put up a couple of stands. Heavy buck activity and finally the brute that claimed it showed up. 25 yds behind me in my stand. Story ends, I never knew he was there, lol. I did managed a nice 9 point from a different set up, nice enough for me, the G2 on the rt side was abot 12-15" in length, an odd rack for sure. As long as no one protests I'll post a pic, unfortunately its a bad pic (hanging in a garage). Tried and tried to set-up and have the king in range no luck, did fill another tag with a small doe.

Shotgun season, accustom to using hi-powered rifles, used alot of slugs to fill two tags. Opening day small bunch of my crew spotted my buck, good thing one of the 15 slugs thrown at it missed em, I want this deer. Out of the 14 of us we filled all 28 tags, mostly does, one decent 8 and a few that should have been passed on but weren't. I do have a pic of our last day of hunting, 10 or 12 deer all piled up in the bed of a truck. Over all nice hunt for filling the freezers, no incidents fun experience.

New Years, enjoy a few drinks and some music. Looking forward to filling my late season tag with my T/C. Atlast some things must end abruptly. Heading to work Jan 2nd, found some black ice and a telephone pole, broadside drivers side, airborn. I have pics of the car too. I missed late season, it put me in Iowa state uni hospital for 3 weeks. No worries I'm healing just fine and brushing up to hopefully STICK a gobbler.

I hope I didn't stress out anyones eyes that decided to read this short story. I figured it would be nice to let you guys know a bit about me. I do plan on being around awhile and hopefully hanging some of these nice Iowa bucks on my wall.

Lets see if this works. I didn't notice the oddness, just the more mature, deer and one long tine. That was enough for me.

sorry not sure on how to make it larger.

Here's a pic of the car. Oh I was from Berkeley County in the Eastern panhandle. I-81 was minutes away. To much growing in that area, alot of the community commutes to DC or Baltimore. Fields I used to hunt are now 100 home housing develpments.
