Nothing real big, but these are the biggest I have around right now.. This 8 point has been a regular this year as I stated in a previous post. Him and a couple other bucks kind of disappeared on me for about a week, but now they are back and they brought another friend, a nice 9 pt.
The shed traps I use are ones I bought probably 7-8 years ago at the IDC and they look like their doing their job. If you want any info on the traps, here is a link, http://www.shedhunter.net/shed_hunter_feeder.php . The antlers here just aren't quite ready to fall off yet. The busted up half rack has been a half rack since mid-October. He must be quite the little fighter.
This doe really has her head in there.. Just need the bucks to do the same...
Here is the new guy..
Here is a pic of the antler trap in the daylight from last year for a better look at it. The bungees are held in little slots into the black ring around the bucket. They will pull out if a deer gets it's antler caught in the bungee but isn't ready to fall off yet to keep from strangling the deer or damaging a pedicle. I have yet to actually find an antler next to or in one of the buckets, however, I did find one antler about 30 yards away from the bucket last year, so, maybe it helped with the process a little. Out of the years I have had these, last year and this year are really the only years that I've truly "used" them. I enjoy all the leg work finding antlers, but, it's pretty exciting to have a few right in the back yard.. And I can watch everything from my livingroom windows!
